[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I received my faxed, it was a very quick start up process, just plug it in to the included stand and charge. I love how simple it was to use and simple to set up. I also think that the added bonus was that I did not need to use the included app for the product to work well. The speed at which it took me to shave was super quick, cutting the time down to around 3 mins for a full shave. I also love the convenience of charging it, as ai did not need to think about it, as it would charge in the stand. I took it with me on holiday and it was super simple to carry, as I could just take the wire to charge, not the full dock. However, I still think that there are some down sides. For instance, for people like me, who have a beard or goatee, it is quite hard to navigate around it, without accidentally cutting some parts of it, because of the size of the product. I also think the pop out razed is a bit of a gimmick, or underdeveloped, as I was unable to use it as it either bend back, or not cut at all. I also think the app is a bit of a gimmick as I found my self never looking at it after I bought the product and started using it. This is why I am rating it a 4/5 stars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I quite like how the 8000 series is quick and simple to use, as a daily dry shave I found it only takes a few minutes to complete the three heads glide over your face and gives a nice clean shave especially around the chin and mouth area although it did tend to leave near my neck a little bit rough but not visibly noticeable, my whiskers do tend to grow at different angles there. With a good few days growth it does take a lot longer to shave and tends to leave a few hairs here and there that need going over a few more times. I haven’t tried a wet shave with this shaver as I’ve always dry shaved. The battery life has proved really good so far and can easily go several weeks without charging. You can also connect the 8000 to bluetooth for feedback about your shaving, time taken, days shaved and battery life etc but personally I didn’t find the app useful as you have to open the app each shave for it to record anything it doesn’t appear to save your shave data to the 8000 for later retrieval. The 8000 comes with a charging stand (USB no power supply provided) a case and also a small cleaning brush. I would have preferred a larger cleaning brush as it makes cleaning a bit fiddly although you can get cleaning cartridges at extra cost. A pouch in the case or something for the brush to fit in would also be beneficial as being small its quite easy to lose as its just loose inside the case. Overall its great for a quick shave in the morning if youyourre running late or need to shave on the go, the long battery life means its ideal for travel as well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do enjoy using this product as I feel that it gets quite close to the skin and a razor. It's also convenient that you can use it wet or dry, the noise is minimal too for me as I do no like loud machines as I find them irritating and the vibration of the product is minimal too which I like. Overall a good standard shaver probably my new daily.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have received the Philips S 8697 Wet &Dry Electric Shaver as part of a product test and that Philips has no editorial influence on my rating. Having used this shaver for over two weeks I have found that the product has some favourable points which has made my shaving experience more enjoyable. The shaver comes with accessories such as the cleaning brush, charging stand with USB cable (No power adaptor is included) an integrated popup trimmer, quick clean pod and a sturdy travel case. There is also an app which provides various features to enable those tech friendly people to keep an eye on their shaving habits/ techniques, device battery levels etc as well as access to a manual, advice & support, and FAQ’s. I found that the device itself gives a close smooth shave leaving my face stubble free and smooth to the touch. The head is very easy to open and clean with the brush provided. And the indicator panel on the handle tells you if your technique is correct and shows a reminder to use your cleaning pod which keeps your shaver clean and hygienic. (This can be used in combination with the App) I also used the shaver after 2 days of growth and found the results to be just as rewarding. Battery life is very good and according to the App, after two weeks of usage there was still 65% of battery power left in the device. On using the cleaning pod, I found this to be quite effective in making a really good job of cleaning and lubricating the shaving heads. However, I do feel that it would be an easier process if you were able to just brush clean the heads and use a spray equivalent of the cleaning solution. I found that the shape of the shaving heads makes it easier to access the upper and lower areas of the lips, again with a good precision cut. I personally found that the shaver was easy to hold especially when I have an issue with my grip. The claim of no redness due to the unique protective coating which lies between the shaver heads and your skin is quite genuine and as a sufferer of shaving redness under my chin, there was no redness with this shaver! In conclusion, the Philips Series 8000 S8697/35 Wet and Dry electric shaver has provided me with a genuine quality shaving experience and would therefore recommend this to anyone looking for the smooth cut feeling.

Really easy to use ,if your looking to cut your hair down low without Irritation from blades. Love the app , really show you want your doing and what you can do better. Plus show you how to grow and cut different kinds of beards. Easy to clean and has a good Battery life too. Would definitely recommend it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Philips Electric Shaver Series 8000 (S8696/35) to test. It cuts through stubble very well, I could say the closest shave with an electric shaver I've ever had. It has flexible heads that work so well going around the chin and over the Adams apple, and it has a little pop-up trimmer that works very well when doing lines on the sides. The app has some good features such as telling how close you like your shave, and how easily your skin is irritated by shaving. It will tell you how many shaves are left with your current charge. The Real-time feedback is ok but when trying to do your cheekbones and keeping a beard, you cannot do circular motions as the app suggests so maybe extra features for the real-time shave are needed. And the app on Android has missing features compared to the iOS (During Shave section - Light ring, Pressure assessment, and Use Sound). It is also a shame that they do not supply the Quick Clean Pod with this shaver given its hefty price. On the good side, it comes with a charger stand as previous shavers did not. The only negative about the stand is the wire could be longer. The shaver also comes with a nice travel case which is very handy when traveling.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Philips 8000 Series Rotary Shaver has an excellent battery life and a fast charging time. It is a good all round rotary shaver, with some nice features. It syncs well with the Groom Tribe app and gives you useful information on how to improve your shave. The sideburns trimmer isn't the best and the shaver misses some hairs under the nostrils and sideburns unless you go over the same spot quite a lot. This can cause irritation and I found the shaver doesn't do too well with 2/3 day stubble unless when using a pre-shave oil. Overall I would recommend the 8000 Series Shaver but maybe with a better attachment to pick up the tough to shave spots etc it would be an excellent product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Initially I was unsure, as used the product when my beard was a touch longer. Felt it kept catching hairs. On further use though, with less growth, it was very smooth, with very little irritation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When testing this product, I found this worked best as a wet shaver. This gave a much more precise cut when using the wet function. When using the dry function, it left my face feeling more sensitive, however, this was very convenient when in a rush! I also found that if stubble was too long (3mm +) hairs could be missed, so multiple shaves were required to ensure all stubble was removed. This product is most suited to people who prefer to shave 3/4 times a week, keeping a clean look. Overall, I found the product to be good performing, however, I would suggest anyone interested, to use the wet function for best results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The S8696/35 shaver has Skin IQ technology, dual steel precision blades, power adapt technology, motion control sensor and 360 degree floating heads..All giving a good close shave. There is a 7 year motor and battery warranty.(Time will tell) I previously used a 7000 series which now has blunt blades. The head of the S8696 is now squared off which takes getting used to with the recommended circular motion. There does not seem to be a very deep cuttings area under the blade so regular cleaning is essential, as recommended. This is a wet and dry shaver. The cleaning brush is very poor. The square grip of the shaver is very secure with rubber side panels. There is a nice case supplied. The motor is quiet and a first seems a little weak but must be geared to produce a good shave. The on switch could be more precise It is good to see that a trimmer is again attached. The charging stand might be more secure if it was square rather than round I am disappointed that the shaver can no longer be used with a standard UK 2 pin shaver socket if the battery runs out.I know wet and dry use means it is better out of the bathroom. The shaver is now charged with a USB power supply Whilst appreciating that Philips have made a policy decision to cut down on USB adapters there must be some elderly customers who cannot use the shaver out of the box.A USB cable is however provided Although graphics have been used in the manual for Worldwide use they are not easy to follow. The warranty and safety information is printed far too small I cannot really see the point of the Philips Day Care App apart from for extending the guarantee.Do you have time to look up whether you are using the right motion for your shave.I suppose this could remind you that you are shaving incorrectly. Whilst Philips shavers have got ever more expensive and cutter life is shorter this is a very good shaver. I have had many Philips shavers over the years but the S8696/35 has given me one of the easiest closest shaves I can remember.I hope that I will get many years use from it
