I bought the original tile from a hardware store and it worked for at least a year and a half. During that time, I was getting ANNOYING notifications from the company to upgrade. But when the battery in it died, I went to the same store and bought the tile mate. It has worked for about 2-3 months, tops. Now, my phone can’t even detect it...the tile doesn’t ring my phone. It never knows where my keys are anymore (the tile is ON my keychain). Don’t waste your money.

9/2/2018 We received the Tile Mate as a gift. From the beginning it would not ring an iPhone 6 or an iPhone SE unless the Tile App was showing on the screen. We are using iOS 11.4.1 and the latest Tile App from the App Store. It also did not work on the iPhone 6 when it had the last iOS 10 installed. The Tile will ring either phone correctly when the Tile App is showing, and the “Find your Keys” function works OK. The Tile URL will also ring the correct phone. Tile Customer Service has had me try many different things via emails since July 26th, and even sent a replacement newer Tile, but the system still has the same problem. They have given up as of today. If anyone has found a solution to this problem, I’d appreciate a response. Since you are probably not going to have the Tile App showing when you lose your phone, essentially the major function is not working for us. It is a nice concept, but for now the system only rates 1 star.

Just lowered to one star because of horrible customer service. customer service is pretty bad they just give you the run around with repeated advice as if you are doing something wrong, instead of having some one to communicate there is a huge amount of automated responses you have to go through to get to some one and then when you finally get to a person they send you a link that put you right back where you started. First of all the tile does not work consistently. I have had to delete the app and reinstall the app twice to make it work. some times the app says the tile has been found but it has not. So it does not make me feel confident that I will find my keys or my phone if I miss place them. clicking on the tile twice seldom works to find my phone. I'm glad I have other apps to do that. the Idea is great, hopefully they fix issues int he future, For now I would stay clear of this device customer service is pretty bad they just give you the run around with repeat advice as if you are doing something wrong, instead of having some one to communicate there is a huge amount of automated responses you have to go through to get to some one and then they put you right back where you stared

At first the tile works very well. However three to six months in they no longer work properly or connect. I have written at least one email trying to find out why they have all stopped working. I will give tile company the benefit of the doubt for the two older tiles however the two directly out of the same pack that had not been used also stopped working the same time. Save your money they just want to get $80 from you every year.

Horrible. The bluetooth on my phone will connect to my car the instant it pulls into the driveway, but none of the four tiles in my kit can connect in the first few minutes. Only connects a small percentage of the time and it always takes a very long time when it does. Also range is only a few feet. basically if your standing in from the of the couch it can tell you which cushion your keys are under after about 5 or 10 minutes. If you're not in the same room, don't even try. If I got one of these in the bottom of a box of Cracker Jacks I would feel like it's decent value only if I really like Cracker Jacks.

It worked Ok for a while. The tracking took a long time. I hate the fact that the battery isn't replaceable. My tile activated in 11/2016 just died. Oddly when I asked about "re-tiling" (PAYING for a new tile at a discount) I was told I couldn't because the Tile was guaranteed to last 1 year and it hadn't been a year. No offer of replacement - nothing. When asked about recycling it, I was told I could send it to them (MY cost) or take my "local ewaste" center (which charges to collect where I love.) I've bought multiple tiles and given them as gifts but never realized how bad the customer service is. Trying the TrackR.

Read the fine print. Then read the reviews. You can not replace the batteries, once they loose power the tile will not work. You only option is to exchange and pay a fee for a replacement. My batteries only lasted months, not more than a year. You are not buying a durable, long lasting product. It is a cleverly constructed subscription service. they deserve just one star because the tile product concept is generally a good idea. But it's a much better concept for the marketers that hook you into renewing with repeating purchases very year. I invested for one in my wallet, on each of two key chains, in my tablet case, 1 in the back pack, one in my roll-aboard, all before i realized that with any luck they would all need replacement in a year. They charge a fee, there is shipping involved... and I don't know what happens to the old unit... or where the replacement came from. Is it used with someone's bacteria or fungus on/in it??? Why can't they just make this rechargeable or let me exchange the battery???

Neat idea. Lousy execution in quality control. Sure, it was nice to have the first few months when most of these other reviews were likely written, but it was all downhill from there! It became more and more sensitive. No longer needing a sure, firm push to be set off, the slightest bump began to set it off. In my profession, we need silence! I had to toss it. I told their customer service the same and got form letter blowoffs in response. Unprofessional company. Terrible QC. Would not recommend.

Love the Tile but think it is TOTALLY lame that they expire. When I bought the original Tile there was NOTHING in the description about them expiring and you having to buy new ones. I bought 4 of them. I would have thought twice about buying them if I would have known they only last a year. It does say that your Tile will last at least a year or longer but not that it expires and you have to recycle them and buy new ones!!! The one star is because they expire. Other than that I loved it! I just felt like they were dishonest.

I purchased a bunch of these for Christmas gifts - thinking it was a very cool item (since I always lose my stuff). However, I was very disappointed to find that the battery is only good for one year - and after that you have to purchase a new tile mate (not a new battery - a whole new product). Not only am I disappointed that the item is only good for one year, but I hate the landfill-effect of designing items to only last a year. In addition, I have been told that it really trashes the battery life of your phone, when this is on. I would not purchase again - and in fact, returned the one I bought.
