I live in South Texas where they grow a nasty little weed with sticker burrs. I am not talking an annoying little plant. Actually, sticker burrs sounds too nice. I am talking a painful, nasty, horrible plant that produces a spore covered in what can only be described as needles. Sharp, splinter-inducing needles. One never walks in the grass here without shoes. Thus, my search for a weed puller that allowed me to pull it out of the ground without having to touch it at all. I found this tool and I swear it is the best gardening tool I have ever bought. I love it so much I just purchased a second one for my elderly parents. No bending over, just place it at the center of the weed and push into the ground and lift out. Easy peezy. The price is reasonable and really extraordinary for such a well-made product. It's got a sturdy wooden handle and the tool at ground level is made of sturdy metal that looks like it came right from the farm. I love this product and if you are searching for an easy, dependable and sturdy gardening weed puller, you've found it. Truly, no need to look any further. :)

This year, we're having a lot of thistles in the yard. I normally use a handheld dandelion removing tool for the thistles. However, you tend to get pricked by the thorns from the plant since your hand is so close to the plant when digging up the thistle. You don't even have to bend down with "Grampa's Weeder". You just center it on the dandelion or thistle and use the simple lever action to pull the plant out. Sometimes you get a bit of dirt stuck in the tool along with the plant and that takes a few extra seconds to clean out. Sometimes you're a bit off center and miss pulling out the main part of the plant. It doesn't work well on all weeds, only those close to the ground with a broad leaf pattern or that have their center/core low to the ground. However, I completely recommend this for dandelions and thistles in the yard.

I saw my elderly neighbor use this and I thought to myself just another gimmick, not sure if it actually works. Checked on her about a half hour later and she had a pile as big as a Cadillac of dandelions, perfectly pulled roots and all. I could not believe it, here I am trying to pull them by hand and use a shovel like a Neanderthal, all the while here’s this amazing tool that will change your life. I immediately ordered it, excited like a child waiting for its arrival. Once it was delivered, I was not disappointed, I spent about an hour straight slaying weeds out of the yard. With every weed I pulled, the joy felt was even more satisfying than the last. I cannot stress enough this weeder change my life. Do it, you won’t regret it.

have a large yard with a lot of grass areas to mow. its the dandelions that plague me. I've used many varieties of weed chemicals without acceptable results so i manually remove them which meant kneeling down to remove weeds. grandpa's weeder allows me to stand up and move about the yard removing the weeds comfortably its simple to use and gets majority of root. i am extremally happy with this product only negative issue is first order came with weeder shattered in shipping box which i was sent 2nd one promptly to which i was disappointed having to wait for shipping again but in the end i have grandpa's weeder and it works great

I hardly ever write reviews because I order online so often that my whole day would be taken up by review writing. But this tool needs celebrating! I am in my mid fifties and I love working with my hands -- knitting, gardening, wood working, etc. I also work at the computer for my day job so I type all day. As a result, I have recurring issues with my fingers. I had a trigger finger release surgery in December and I am participating in occupational therapy to recover. Pulling the multitude of weeds that sprouted after Southern California's uncharacteristic rains in March and April was very difficult for me with my stiff and painful fingers. Enter Grampa's Weeder. I'd heard of it before but didn't buy one until a couple of weeks ago. IT IS SIMPLY AMAZING. It is easy to use (yes, you must center it over the weed for best results). It requires no strength and no bending down. Once the weed is pulled out, if it gets stuck in the prongs of the tool, you can turn the tool upside down and clear the weed without bending! It is a game changer! It will even ull the smallest of single-stalk little weed sprouts! I am ordering one day as a gift for my 80 year old mom who is in her garden every day. DO NOT HESITATE TO SPEND THE MONEY ON THIS TOOL! My occupational therapist is recommending it to all of his patients who garden!

This is an absolutely AMAZING tool for pulling dandelions! And, you don't have to kill all the grass around them in the process of eradicating the weeds! In less than an hour I nearly filled a wheelbarrow while clearing a patch of lawn approx 10'x10' +/- that was obviously being overrun. The only issue I would bring is that perhaps the pole is a bit short. While most would likely not have a problem, for those of us who are taller it is a bit short and requires bending a bit too often. Also, while I don't consider it a quality issue per se, the pole gave a resounding creaking/cracking sound while extracting a rather large dandelion. While it's still intact and fully functional, I'm afraid it will break before the season is over. If so, it's easily replaced by simply removing the connection screw to remove and put in a new one. If necessary, at that point I'll look for a longer, perhaps metal pole. If you have a dandelion problem, you NEED this tool!

I couldn’t wait to try it out. Cost more than I wanted to pay. However, looking at other models that were less expensive but they had negative reviews I made the purchase. I really appreciate people providing reviews and I make sure to leave mine. I’ve learned to shop that way. Reviews really are helpful. I don’t like returning items but I have. It’s kinda weird most of the tools I own are not cheap. Yet I was struggling getting off the $40.00 bucks. My only dislike is: Having to pull the weed out of the grip. Believe it or not my sister wants her own weeder and she’s very cheap. LoL.

Great recommendation by my neighbor! I hesitated for about two minutes because of the price. What people need to know is that it works best on certain weeds and where they are easily accessible. If you’ve got rocks in your garden, you have to get them out of the way. And if you don’t get some of the weeds right away, they will be harder to pool. But if you are able to get right over it and step on the lever and pull towards the fork to end of the lever, it will take everything out in one scoop. I can’t tell you how much I pulled out of my lawn! Doing the front of my yard with the rocks is a more difficult, but that’s not this tools issue. I’ve been recommending it to everyone would absolutely buy it again and it has a wooden handle instead of plastic like some others. I think it will last a long time and I’m super impressed!!!

This is likely, if not one of, the only product I have purchased from any website/vendor that actually delivers on its promise. I try not to use just the standard "weed and feed" to our lawn and try not to do more than that. When I found these types of tools specifically to remove weeds, I was a bit apprehensive, as most, if not all, were rated low as they really don't work. I decided to go with this particular one since it was the only one rated five stars, I believe. (Nitpick) Amazon could have really saved the huge box they shipped the tool in as it was big enough to fit a small table or furniture. It was packaged well with the "de-weeding" part completely attached to the product information card so as to protect it from being damaged and it from damaging anything. The tool is built quite well with only the "pinching" mechanism the only thing movable in the entire assembly. Initially, I thought it was really not working but realized I was using it incorrectly. Once I read and followed the instructions carefully, it turned out to be a breeze. You spot the weed, in most cases dandelion, position the two forks (equalling four prongs) so that the weed is right smack in the middle of the prongs, press with the footpad lever with your feet, release your foot, then lean the handle sideways downwards towards where the direction of where the footpad lever is. Viola, you have the entire weed, roots and all, removed. This was a great buy, and I highly recommend it to those who like to remove weeds manually.

After all the rain CA received this year, we had the biggest weeds ever all through our yard. It was a daunting project to tackle. We purchased this tool hoping it would help and man does it do the trick! We’ve removed hundreds of weeds with this, quite quickly. My husband was using to remove the last from a flower bed, and the wood pole did snap above the metal tool where some others reviews have pictured. We emailed the company and they just asked for a picture and proof of purchase, and quickly shipped us a replacement. We received it in under a week from our initial email to them. Talk about standing behind your product and hassle free service! I definitely recommend this product to everyone with a big weed job, or who just doesn’t want to get down on their hands and knees to try to dig out the roots.
