This review is for the SJ 1289. I've owned an older version of this Schumacher power jump starter/ power station. I've bought 2 of this current version too. I really liked the older version, I really LOVE this newer one. As a jump starter, it works great on my minivan and other vehicles. Works great as a tire inflator. Although I've not needed to pump up a completely empty tire using it, it is perfect for checking tires and adding some air or to top up a tire that has a slow leak. And it really shines as a power source, has a 120vac outlet and 12vdc outlet and USB outlet, so you can connect anything to it (up to 400 peak watt limit on the AC outlet). I've used it on camping trips, and road trips, and taken it to outdoor events. But also I've found it useful around the house and yard (bring power anywhere when needed). The unit is bulky and heavy, but that is not an issue for me, it's easy enough to carry. These are built well and will last a long time.

I love this thing! It was the best money I spent all year! Of course little things could be better like the hose for airing up your tires, it has a cord wrap on the unit but there's nothing to keep the hose there, needs like a small bungee or Velcro to hold it in place during storage. This thing has saved me hours and hours of waiting and frustration. Also to make it perfect, supply a small extension cord in the correct guage for recharging the unit, I just happened to get lucky I had one.

This is a great purchase that you never hope to need. However, I was thankful to have it. It's a bit heavier than I expected but because I kept it charged as per the directions, when my battery went dead, I wasn't stranded. I was able to quickly charge my vehicle without asking anyone and was on the road in less than 10 minutes. Buy it!

I do roadside assistance as a fulltime job, and i just got tired of using my cables and having to hook my car up each time, so i bought another Schumacher because the last one worked pretty good too, until the outlet broke on it so i couldn't recharge it. It was very lightweight which is the one thing i dont like about this new jumpbox, its a bit heavy. Still nice to have, i have charged it one time since i bought it, and i got over 11 jumpstarts on all different vehicles so far and it still has 92% of life to it. Now i believe that after each jump, (because i let the box stay connected to the battery for close to a minute) i think it just kinda recharged the box. It also tells how much life is on the battery too which is pretty cool. Sorry this message is way long.

I didn’t pay attention to the actual details to the product ( my own fault) but I did gift it to my father for Christmas and he loved it! Perfect for gift for anyone!

The ease of recharging is good. The weight a bit high, but therein lies the power we want. Holds a full charge a long time. Got one to use with our fleet of assorted vehicles. The more vehicles one has, the harder it is to keep all of the batteries in peak condition. The jumper cables and clamps are of highest quality and self stow quite conveniently. The readouts are helpful.The air pump was used on one occasion. It did its job, but it was a slow process, requiring a little patience to refill a neighbor's SUV flat tire from empty to full pressure. Not the reason we purchased the Jump Starter.We liked our first Jump Starter enough to get a second unit to use as a power supply for our telescopes when in the field. Using the AC adapter capability, we can plug in the telescope's transformer power supply to provide the proper voltage to power the tracking drive and heaters (prevent fogging and condensation on electricals).The large LED readout on the unit tells us when optimal power will soon become compromised and we can safely end our stargazing session without stressing delicate electronics with low grade power. The red readout and indicators keep eyes well condition for working/playing in darkness.While the charger is turned off, hooking the jumper cables to the battery in question will give one a readout of its state. One can also use this function to verify the output of the alternator of vehicle in question, once the engine is started. Sometimes that process of elimination is helpful as a battery can initially take the blame for an alternator problem.These chargers can be rejuvenated by simply installing a new battery pack when the original expires. We have yet to replace one. Our original charger must be around 5 years old. I just topped off the first charge on our second unit.

Let me start by saying this is the third Schumacher booster box with built in air compressor (and power sockets) that I've bought.In my job I've often needed to start cars with dead batteries, and to air up flat or deflated tires on those cars or on my own. The first one I bought (definitely a different model, but very much like this one) was supposed to satisfy that need - and it did it's job wonderfully.My only complaints were: if it was hot outside (and I live in Texas - so it's nearly always hot outside) then the air compressor would need 'cool off' periods during big jobs. And, the faceplate sticker that covers the buttons on the front started to peel on one corner. Other than those things - it was perfect. But, after about 1.5 years of use, I left it balancing on a high surface and it fell. I was crushed, and so was it. So I had to buy another one.The second one was every bit as good as the first (though the faceplate sticker still wanted to flake up and curl on one corner). And, I left it in my car one night with the doors unlocked (the night before Christmas Eve) and it was stolen. Again, I was devastated.But, by that time, my job had changed somewhat and I wasn't working with the cars as often, and it seemed like I couldn't find this style of Schumacher booster boxes. (The first two were bought through Walmart - and they seemed to suddenly stop carrying good quality booster boxes.)Anyway, time went on and I recently found myself needed to be prepared to start cars and air tires, so when Walmart failed me (again) I went to Amazon and found this little gem. If anything it seems to be even better than the first two! I've only aired tires on one of our rare cold days - and it has given me no problems at all - and the faceplate sticker seems to be re-designed and is better fastened over the buttons and isn't peeling or curling at all!(I haven't used the light at all, though. It looks cool, but until I take it camping I just won't know how good it is.)
