I have been utilizing this curler set on my long thin hair and also on my teenagers short thick hair. The size of the rods are typical, but I love that there are 8 smaller ones instead of just 4 on my old set. The unit heats up quickly and believe it or not I have not burnt myself at all. The Remington thermaluxe setter is an awesome hair tool everyone should have. The direction for its usage is clear and precise, giving you the finishing look that is admirable. I have a medium lenght hair and the sizes of setters which includes two sizes were perfect. If this is the first time you would be rolling your hair at home like me, the experience is not a bad one. After heating the setter for 4mins since I wanted tighter curls (it heats up in 90secs which is a plus), I unplugged it , then rolled up my hair with the setters and waited for 15mins. Another plus, with the setters on your hair, you can multitask unlike at the salon where you have to be seats for a while. Taking off the rollers were easy and I loved the end result. This is the best hair styler set I have used yet. Love the compact size. Not a big bulky set that takes up lots of counter space. It only tok less than 2 minutes for the set to heat up. It caused no frizzeness to my hair which was a plus. Came with to sizes of rollers 12 large which was great with the longer sections of my hair and 8 med size to give that extra curl in the layers of my hair. Loved the clips to hold the rollers in place instead of pins like others come with, produced a much better style. The cord can be wrapped around the bottom so its not hanging off the counter where it could be pulled off. Very lightweight and sturdy. Perfect for travel. Very easy to use for a perfect hairstyle in minutes. They seemed to hold the heat much better than sets I have used in the past. I have been using this product almost daily for 2 weeks. I am so impressed by how easy to use it is. You just set the curls and use the clips then about 15 minutes later, done. I love the size as well. The unit fits on top of my countertop in my bathroom. My curls are long and full and not frizzy. I have also noticed no damage to my hair, it feels wonderful. My daughter had asked I curl her hair before going out to a family dinner. I was surprised by how quickly these curlers heated up. It takes a minimum of 90 seconds. The curlers were easy to roll up and apply the clamps to them in order to hold in place. The only complaint from my daughter was the heat she felt from them near her ears. She was left with soft curls. My daughter has thick, somewhat course hair and we did apply with no styling products. She still had soft curls the next morning after she woke up.
