Not good enough for the pricetag.

Don't get me wrong, this watch has a lot going for it. It DOES track your sleep, your workouts, your steps, calls, and phone notifications. HOWEVER - I have had more problems with this thing than benefits.- Within the first week of owning this, I found that working tracking was really inaccurate. From needing to do about 30 jumping jacks for it to track 10 to various workouts that require you to "get into position" that your watch literally never detects (for arm curls I literally have to raise my hands as far above my head as possible)- Initially, for the above tracking issue, I had talked to Amazon about it and got a replacement. It had the exact same problems which told me it was not a faulty watch, but is just how the watch functions which is pretty unfortunate for the price that it's not even technologically up to par with similar products.- Watch band broke (metal pin fell out) within a month's time. Since this wasn't my fault I had to really explain it to Amazon before they finally gave me credit to buy a new one - but not a good sign that it breaks so easily.- Responsiveness of watch has gone down severely in the last ~10 months I have owned this. Initially the watch was nice and snappy quick like my phone is, but since then the watch has gotten more and more unresponsive to scrolls, taps, and even just hitting the side buttons. Some pros just so I don't sound overly negative- Customizable Watch faces are cool - especially if you add Facer to your watch and open it up to some of the cool stuff people have made.- Sleep tracking is consistently being read every night when watch is worn in Goodnight mode.

UPDATED: I like better than Apple

20 Mar 20 Update, still like the function of the watch other than the fact after only 4 months of use the battery life has gone from about 2 days before charges to only about 6 hours with minimal use. Knowing this, I would not have bought it.***********I've been a huge iPhone fan for years and also had the Apple watch 3 with dedicated line to go with my iphone 7. Due to frustration with not getting call and texts on both my phone and watch I decided to take the leap to android and traded in my iPhone 7 for a Galaxy Note 10+ and purchased the Galaxy Active 2 smart watch.1st the Pros for the watch: I found it to be a mutch brighter and easier to read display. I love how easy it is to customize the display and the huge range of display options. The battery life is unbelievable. I charge it about every 2 days which is longer than they advertise. The round shape I like better than the square apple watch in which I'd always accidentally hit the side buttons if I bent my wrist to far back. The negatives: It hardly has any compatible apps. Or if it does, I haven't figured out how to get the same ones I had on my apple watch on my Galaxy watch. I think the Apple watch had a wider bluetooth range as it stayed connected to my phone throughout my entire home and my Galaxy Active 2 disconnected about halfway through my house. My opinion: I've had the Galaxy watch now for about a month now and am still learning new things about it. I don't miss the apps that I had on my apple watch at all because i felt they were pretty worthless anyway and was easier to just use my phone. I think the Galaxy Active 2 is easier to use, my calls are louder and much more clear, my texts are easier to read and respond to, it's much more useful and fun, and its cheaper than the Apple watch. I didn't get the dedicated line with mine but it is an option. My wife stayed with Apple and upgraded her phone to the iPhone 11 and stayed with the Apple watch, but after seeing and playing with my phone and watch, she wishes she would have gotten the same.I'm by no means anti-Apple. I for the 1st time in a long time bought a windows PC and I don't believe it is anywhere close to as good as my mac or my macbook, but it will be a long time before I decide to try another iPhone or Aplle watch again.

Great watch until it failed and Samsung would not repair/replace within warranty

tl;dr I loved this watch until I wore it while wading in the water and it broke. Samsung said that water damage voided warranty. Now I'm buying a Garmin. Didn't last a year.I bought this watch (the 44mm version) over 6 months ago and loved it. I'm a fairly loyal Samsung customer so it seemed to fit nicely with everything. Battery life was great; if I did not use the "always on" I could charge it while driving to/from work and keep a full charge easily. Notifications were great; it meant that I could keep my phone on vibrate and not fear missing a message. I rarely used many of the "smart" features of the watch - I tried using it to reply to a message a few times and it did not work out well, but I did not expect much either. As far as fitness tracking - the sleep tracking was interesting. I found that it tracked the duration of time I was asleep relatively acurately (although it could get fooled if I was just laying in bed quietly) but would sometimes catch my afternoon nap too and include that. No idea about its accuracy re: REM/deep/light sleep, but I wouldn't put much stock in it. Step counting was great. I loved using it for workouts.I loved the vibrating alarm clock. Maybe a stupid thing to love on a smart watch, but it vibrated well enough that it could wake me and not my wife. Pretty awesome! As I said, I loved it. I wore it nearly always. I never took it off in the shower. I swam in it a few times without problems - the product is reportedly water resistant to 50m. It advertises swimming tracking for heaven's sake! So one day I waded in the ocean with it on, not thinking twice. Emphasis is on wading - barely submerged. Afterwards it began to malfunction and eventually died.I sent it back to Samsung, however after diagnosing it they informed me that water damage is not covered by the warranty. I think that this is incredible - if the product is used within its advertised limits, they ought to repair it. However, such is not the case.Since it did not even last a year, I will not be purchasing another. I'm looking into Garmin products, and hope that they will last; unlike this product.

Bixby almost impossible to activate, Customer service , battery life poor. Display, UI, apps nice

If you don't want to use the voice app Bixby this might be a good watch for you. But trying to activate Bixby was a completely frustrating experience. The Watch kept asking me to sign into my account? Which account? I Tried to contact customer service a few times for help and after 3 attempts and 3 days I was unable to get any real help from them to get bixby working. I couldn't sign into my account and I tried resetting my PW 3 times and nothing worked, the sign in just kept coming back to the sign in screen (Motorola G7 Power). Finally I tried creating a new account and that kind of worked - Bixby finally worked for about 5 minutes then stopped working for some unknown reason (but I was able to ask for my name and the time ). I haven't figured out why Bixby stopped working and I'm pretty sure I better get a life and do something else then continue trying. The last rep I talked to told me it wasn't a Samsung issue contact Motorola they only help Samsung phone users. Trying to get help by Chat is worthless and very very time consuming. Battery life on the phone is marginal at best , a max of 2 days not doing very much. The screen is bright and clear and the UI seems good. I also tried an AMAZFIT GTR2 watch and the battery life was better and overall appearance of the watch I thought was nicer, but it has some other issue with bluetooth connection. Another negative about the Active 2 I think is this water app your supposed to activate if its going to get wet? Good luck on using this app before you take a shower! Bottom line my experience with customer service, the Samsung.com login, Bixby and battery life was pretty bad and unacceptable. BTW the information on setting up the watch is marginal. As these watches get more and more complicate you really need some clear friendly information on how to use them and set them up. At least Samsung provided a Quick start guide which helped but it has a long way to go. There was no quick start guide for the AMAZFIT GTR2 watch.. If your getting one of these smart watches you better be prepared to spend a lot lot of time and energy figuring out how to set it up and use the various functions. Good luck If you purchased one of these watches. I hope your experience was / is better than mine.

Good while it lasted, but disappointing

After one year and one month, it is now stuck trying to open the pay app and I am not able to get it to stop. Apparently something Samsung has said cannot be fixed without a $200+ repair to one of the side buttons according to the Samsung message boards. Figures it is less than a month after the warranty expired that the watch is now trash. Guess I am going back to Fitbit... I expected more...I only gave it two stars because, while it was working, it was very nice to use.

Inaccurate heart rate and GPS

Had this watch for 2 years, finally switching to a Garmin. The heart rate monitor on this is inaccurate and fails to work often. I have followed all the tips on how to wear the watch correctly and I keep the back of the watch clean. Despite this it still randomly reads way too high or way to low when I work out. Sometimes it will just stop reading and blink for minutes without updating heart rate. I have seen it read in the upper 80s when my heart rate was in the upper 120's. I have seen it read in the 190s when my heartrate was 155 at most. The GPS and thus distance run is off by a good 10% on most runs. I know this because running the exact same path it fluctuates that much. If you are training for any type of running event this will not accurately measure your pace times or run times because the GPS distance calculation is off so much. After two years the battery seems to last about 2/3 as long as when I first got it. The watch is durable enough, I haven't scratched it yet. The band is okay but a little sticky and clammy, not super comfortable. I had trouble falling asleep if I had it on.Overall I regret spending the money I did on something that advertised itself as an athletic watch but had the sensors of a simple fitness tracker. As far as being a smartwatch in general it was okay but if you are serious about exercise this is not the watch for you. Save up and get something that accurately measures stuff.

Most Expensive Pedometer You Can Buy

I have owned this watch since February and it's running app and Pedometer have been mostly great. Every other feature is nearly useless, constantly making me feel like I'm using a diamond Rio from 1999.GOOD:- Appearance is fine- easy to swap bands- face seems quite scratch resistant although there is an inexplicable smudge on it that is not a physical scratch- battery is USUALLY 2+ days (see below)- great visibility in sun or darkness- plenty of watch faces- step counter seems exceedingly accurateBAD (buckle up...) :- can you believe that in 2020 any device sold would have only 4 gb of storage on board?- running GPS will randomly give erroneous mileage on routes I've run hundreds of times; I've checked the mileage with my car and about 95% of the time, the run app nails it but that other 5% is infuriating- adding music is horrendous, taking you back to the old days of non-apple mp3 players thanks to no Google support- Spotify and tidal apps are both trash, and eerily similar (same developer?)- controls are miserable when in motion and/or sweaty- watch has no ability to organize your apps into most recently used for access while running- only music app that supports controls, even PAUSE, is the Samsung music app- tidal app, which I use due to having free access through t mobile, freezes constantly and has miserable Playlist adds- ditto for Spotify, which is supposed to have some special partnership with Samsung but has the same app as tidal- if running with tidal/Spotify playing, only way to access the music app again is to navigate to it (!) despite there being some indicators from Samsung that the controls should nest at the bottom of the screen- simply playing or pausing music frequently freezes the app or doesn't work at all, making a simple ipod touch look like some device from the future in comparison- no standalone assistant support so if I'm on a run with no phone, the primary selling point of a device like this, I cannot do anything to the watch without touching it- no ekg support despite months of pre- and post-release promises from Samsung- I cannot stress enough how terrible these music apps areSummary: My primary reasons for purchasing the watch were to use it as a step/run tracker and as a standalone music player that would allow me to exercise without my phone. Although it works very well for item 1, item 2 is embarrassingly bad.Frankly, I cannot believe a device with so much processing power on board cannot play music and track a run simultaneously without the frequent crashes this device has. I had ipods with HARD DRIVES in them strapped to my arm for years with no issues.Downloading playlists from tidal onto the phone takes ages for just 20 or 30 songs, again like the old days of syncing your player. I get it, they want me to buy the LTE version and pay $10/month so I can stream the songs while I run. If that's the deal, then please do not sell a half-baked non-lte version. In tidal for example, the downloaded play lists are buried about 5 menus deep, and frequently if you want to access the app you have to re-launch it which brings you back to the top. So to do something simple like skip a track or just see what song is playing, that's what you have to do.When on a run, the run app is displayed only. If you want to see something else, you have to swipe or use the physical buttons to open the menus and go to an app. If you're running and listening to music, this is incredibly terrible. I've been auditioning wireless earbuds lately. I've tried plantronics BackBeat 3200, Sony sport wps800, panasonic sw500, bose soundsport, and my ancient Sony ear hook sport model , and none of them can control the apps.In conclusion, I'd say that although I am android forever and have never owned an iPhone, this watch frustrated me to the point if wanting to try an apple watch to see if it is also terrible. The worst part of the purchase is all the rave reviews this watch got from tech press. I waited so long to buy a smart watch because I figured they all sucked based on most reviews I've read. It would appear that the bar has been lowered to "does the battery last at least a day?" Too bad.

Subpar android product - owned since release

I was never wowed by it. It was 100% better than my gen-5 fossil watch no doubt, but, this wouldn't even register on a Richter scale compared to an Apple watch.Sleep tracking stinksIt tracks my auto-activity like 40-50% of the timeIt doesnt' even register heartrate like 75% of the time..Run-tracking is AWESOME. It tracks your beat pattern stride, running efficiency, all kinds of cool stuffGPS hiking tracking is AWESOME!Even though I have always-on watch face (which came out long before Apple did, btw!) it will constantly turn itself off and you have to press a button to wake it - totally uncalled forI ended up putting a pin on it to access it when the screen times out. Well, the screen times out randomly whenever the heck it wants so I find myself randomly putting the PIN back in. Stupid. The Samsung health app IS really cool and fun to use to track your statsWhen using my peloton, I use an "exercise bike" selection in the workouts. My heartrate is tracked like 35% of the time. Most of the "heart rate info" screen is just white " - -- - -- " because it doesn't register.I stopped wearing it as a daily driver a year ago. I didn't have any battery-saving functionality enabled. It would last one full work day and need recharge. This is fine.. so does a phoneThe past year I've only worn it during workouts and then I shut it off. It will still have ~30% battery remaining at the end of my workout week and then I charge it up for Monday's workout. The latest gen is likely 100% better than this thing. Don't bother. And definitely do not try to compare it to an apple watch.
