The size of the barrel is perfect for making large voluminous waves like you just got a blowout. I’m used to using wands without a handle and was able to use it the same and just wrap my hair around. For some reason the curl in the front half around my face seems to be holding better than the back. That’s my only worry with this curling iron is that it won’t hold them long. To start, the instructions are very helpful especially as it tells you what temperature to set it to based on the hair you have for best results. It heats up within 60 seconds. The curling iron design is nice as it is easy to adjust the temperature quickly, the cord doesn’t get in the way (has a swivel end), and the cool touch tip is great for not burning your fingers. It does great at clamping your hair and not allowing slippage in order to achieve the desired curl.

This curling iron was a much better quality tool than the one I was using previously! I loved that it was easy to manage and twirl, and that it stayed warm throughout my hair process. It did not take a long time to heat up, and I felt that it stayed warm while using. The material was good, while the size worked well. I am a busy mom and usually don't have a lot of time to do my hair, it's usually sweep it up into a bun or ponytail and be on my way, but occasionally I'll have a work meeting or a date night and want to do myself up a bit and that is where the curling iron comes in. My husband and I had a date night for his birthday, which was the prime opportunity to test the iron. First off, I love the size of the barrel, it's large and extended, and feels like I can take a bigger section of hair to get around it. I had tested it at a lower heat level, and while it heated up fast, I found I had to turn it up to the higher end of the recommended range for my hair type to get a curl that held. I love the look of this curling iron. The gold is gorgeous and the size and handle are awesome! The iron stayed hot while curling and did a great job! I love the swivel cord, I never felt like I was battling the plug or iron to move around my head to use it. The fast heat-up was great! The end result was exactly what I was going for and this will be my new go to curling iron from now on!

I liked using the Hot Tools Pro 1 1/4 inch curling iron. I have medium length fine hair and I think the diameter was perfect.
