Yes it’s expensive, but it does what it’s suppose to do (exceptionally at that). If you are cooking something the required thin, consistent cut, this is your kitchen too! I made a veggie lasagna with zucchini and this thing man handled that zucchini! I was impressed! And for $40 I should be impressed!

This is the first time I bought something online without reading reviews and I’ve got to say I am not disappointed in this product! I used it to slice potatoes for scalloped potatoes and ham and it is so sharp I wasn’t even sure it was slicing anything. I couldn’t feel it working, but sure enough it was slicing amazingly. I love that you can change the thickness so easily and unlock it to clean it and access the other blades. I’m so happy it comes with 4 blades to do multiple things. This will come in handy with the garden this year. Totally worth the price and I’m glad I didn’t get a cheaper one that didn’t offer as much.

But I can say that it works very well and comes in handy for special situations. My favorite use is slicing potatoes for scalloped and au gratin potatoes.Slicing by hand is tedious and hauling out the the food processor and cutting the potatoes to fit into it is a pain.Setting up the mandoline is easy and I can make perfectly even slices from a big potato in less than a minute ! We like very thin slices and this mandoline can slice thinner than I could cut by hand. The blade is extremely sharp -- you can even slice tomatoes -- so you have to be very careful and hold whatever you're slicing with the provided handle and not with your fingers.All in all, I can't quite say this is something I can't live without -- but it sure makes several tasks a whole lot easier.

I have artheritis in my hands and gripping a knife isn’t always easy, so I’ve avoided a lot of recipes because slicing and jullienning are difficult. But several years ago I discovered using a mandoline makes things so much easier! I just “upgraded” to this new OXO V-blade mandoline, and I have to tell you - it has totally revolutionized how I cook and prep in the kitchen! The previous mandoline I had wasn’t as versatile or easy to use. I’m just SO impressed with the ease of use, versatility and durability of this OXO mandoline! For the mandoline-hesitant, I have two bits of advice, ALWAYS use the cutting guard/handle (obviously) and if you’re still feeling intimidated, pick up a “Cut-Proof” Kitchen Glove for just a few bucks. Fool-proof! Even with my wobbly old artheritic grip, I’ve never cut myself or worried about the blades, etc. I highly recommend this for anyone who needs to prep crispy, crunchy veggies quickly. The different adjustments and “V” shape of the blades make short, effortless work of cabbage for cole-slaw, carrots for my bahn-mi sandwich, a huge batch of cucumbers for pickling, and even tomatoes sliced smoothly for burgers. I’ve never seen a mandoline that could do tomatoes! I’m so impressed! It’s also super helpful for batch cooking and prep too; we were camping and didn’t have a food processor but I shredded enough potatoes for hash browns for 30 people in just minutes, and with a quick rinse and switch of blades, sliced onions and peppers for omelettes before they even had all the eggs cracked. I wouldn’t be without this tool in my kitchen ever again!

Thus far I have made sweet potato fries, sliced very thin apples for a salad (duplicated my favorite restaurant salad:)) and sliced cucumbers from my garden. There are so many other foods I want to try! Cleaning it was easier than I thought; I hand washed it and let it air dry. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone wanting to chop or slice quickly!

I've cut myself with knives and graters. This slicer is great and I feel confident about using it without any harm. I love the different blade options and the attached legs for propping up give me the perfect angle for slicing. Easy to clean and store too!

I had a mandoline about 10 years ago and it didn't work too well, so I've avoided buying mandolines based on my previous experience. After using this mandoline for about a week, I am hooked on how well it works! The features I love are the different widths that you can cut your fruits and vegetables. The smallest width is paper thin which I love using for my veggie wraps! I also like the lock feature which can keep this gadget safe around my daughter. Another feature I liked was how easy a juicy tomato was cut into thin slices when we had hamburgers. I was a little nervous to put the tomato on the slicer because I was thinking it would turn into a big mess. Surprisingly, it cut thin slices right through! The thinner sliced tomatoes were a hit as I would not be able to get that thin of slice with a regular knife. I also had a huge onion and was a little hesitant that due to the size, it would not cut properly. However, the holder pierced right rough the onion and held it just fine as I was cutting the onion. No tears and cut and ready in half the time! I love this little gadget! Cutting fruit is a breeze and it's literally cut in half the time it usually takes for me to cut with a regular knife. My daughter loves the thin slices of apple I've been cutting for her over regular apple wedges. I am overall really happy with this guy. It's small, but gets the job done. The security features all well thought out including the rubble handle as well as the lock position for the blade. I quickly run it through water to wash and there have been no issues. Very easy to use and clean - perfect for this on the go mother! I recommend this product to anyone looking for a trusty mandoline.

To be completely honest I owned 2 different mandolines before this one but I never used either because they did not feel safe to use. The bases were flimsy and did not stay in one place while in use and the food holder of each did not securely hold the item being sliced. I was always scared of having an accident and slicing off my own finger tips. However, this OXO V-Blade Mandoline Slicer solves all of those problems!!! The base is incredibly sturdy and the handle at the end of the slicer makes it absolutely sure that you can hold it in place. My favorite part of this set is actually the food holder! The four long prongs pierce through any piece of food to VERY securely hold it in place while the handle of it has a wide circular guard that protects your fingers and hands from the blade. I was able to slice 4 potatoes in less that a minute, with all the slices being perfectly uniform in width! Trying to slice perfect, uniform slices by hand is near impossible and always leads to uneven cooking but I no longer have to worry about that due to owning this mandoline! The fact that it comes with 4 different blades and the option to choose the width of the slices makes the use of this product all-encompassing. I have used this product every single day since opening it and I don't see that streak ending anytime soon! The one slight "con" of this product is that while slicing carrots, the carrots stained the white base of the product orange. However, with some elbow grease and a bit of baking soda, I was able to get rid of the orange stains. Overall, owning this slicer has already changed my life and I know I will use it all the time and for years to come! Do yourself a favor and buy this in order to save yourself so much time in the kitchen!

It stores all pieces (with the exception of the round holder/pusher) inside the main compartment. It will take up less room when it's stored away and not in use. I wanted to see how well it did with shredding lettuce. And it works perfect. It is nice to see all the different sizes too (change the depth of the cut with the black handle) that you can do for cucumbers or zucchini and onions. I can't wait to use this to make a cucumber and onion side dish.
