Great learning tool for code

It's ok for basic coding logic. I purchased for my 10 year old. I think the age range is off. he played with it for 30 min and he hasn't touched it since. I think it would be a better gift for 8 and under. great tool for learning basic code logic non the less. Hense the 4 stars.

Emails not coming through

Very fun, only qualm is it’s quite difficult to log out and reset passwords. We’ve received no emails to activate account so in a bit of a difficult position as can only do on one device.

Software

Had some troubles downloading the app for Android. Due to comparability issue. This was a issue with the Play store. But emailed the developer and was sorted out. My daughter got right into it, and loved the game

Unique Tool for Curious Kids

This wand is great for kids who are interested in games and computers but may not be ready yet for serious classes. My 4 year old daughter has found great enjoyment in playing with it, even though it might be better for a slightly older child. It definitely opened up her interest in games AND Harry Potter. Easy to use...works great with her iPad!

STEM Fun for Harry Potter Lovers!

My 10-year-old has had so much fun with this. He is a long-time fan of Harry Potter and being able to build and program a wand really adds to the magic. This is a step beyond regular imaginative play because your wand actually "works" and interacts with the program. Great for Harry Potter and kids wanting a good, basic programming activity.

Potter Fans & Coders will love this

If you love Harry Potter and also love coding, this is for you! The kit is nicely presented. You're going to need Bluetooth and specific minimum requirements on whatever device you choose to use, be it Android or Apple. The KANO app is free. The wand comes with two AAA batteries. Set up the app and begin the on screen adventure. Over 70 challenges with steps to follow through to completion. My daughter enjoyed this for a bit but since she's not really into coding, she lost interest quickly. Recommended for kids 6+ but I'd say more like 8 or 9 year olds.

Complicated to use at first

To start using the wand it was a bit complicated at first but after it became much easier. It was the coding I was having difficulty with but with the help of the book that was included he helped me understand all the codes. Follow the book which is completely to help you understand the symbols of the wand. It would be best to read it through once and then use it as a reference. The pictures in the booklet were very helpful. helpful. The wand does includes batteries. I found that the app for the phone does not work as well as using it with a computer.

Just Decent

I had high hopes since Kano is known well for the raspberry pi kits, and of course the Harry Potter franchise. The wand is the obvious Harry Potter influence, but outside of some branding there isn't much other integration. The app is interesting, but it's not great, a bit slow and clunky. It will let your kid learn coding and a bit easier than using scratch or something like that, but value for money is not great.

Incentivized

She likes all things Harry Potter and that made this much more important to her, though she was saddened she wasn't going to be able to turn one of her brothers into a frog. I asked which one and she said it didn't matter. It turned out to be fun even without the extra frogs around. She used my, I mean her, iPad and that worked a lot better than any of our other devices. It was the right size to use. Plus her brothers can't get on it. I like that there are challenges. It continues to be a teaching event.

Nice learning tool with magic

Using Harry Potter as a device to give kids the imagination of wielding magic into a learning tool is a great idea. This is designed to help kids learn to code, program and understand basic structure of building programs on a computer. The results are magical with flying objects and appearing friends and more so. You can only use this on certain tablets, so be sure you make sure your device can support it. It entertains as well as educates, which I think is a good combo. I think the pricing is right for this kind of product. I would recommend this to others.
