For a while I researched cordless vacuum cleaners and narrowed it down to this Dyson and a Shark Bagless Navigator Freestyle Cordless Stick Vacuum (SV1106). I bought the Shark Freestyle a few weeks ago and love it. It is easy to push on hard floors or carpet; it automatically switches the motor and brush speed when going from hard to carpet and back; you turn it on and it stays on (unlike the Dyson which you have to hold the on or trigger button in). The battery life is at least double or triple that of the Dyson. Both have easy to empty dirt containers.I just bought the Dyson for two reasons: 1) so I could use the attachments and for reaching high places since the Shark does not have those features; and 2) so I had a cordless vacuum on each level so I didn't have to carry it up and down the steps. So I decided to buy the Dyson instead of the Shark for the second level to give it a try and the refurbished cleaner was much cheaper than the new Dyson. Honestly, I doubt I will use those features often enough to make up for the fact that the Dyson is more difficult to push on carpet and on the sofa and the extremely short battery life. If you don't remember to switch from Boost or high speed when you use it on the hard floors then it continues to use up the battery extremely quickly. The Dyson is much heavier than the Shark - or it seems that way because you hold the motor in your hand rather than the weight being at the bottom like the Shark. Also, the Shark stands upright when not in use; so I can stop vacuuming and let it stand and then restart; where as with the Dyson you have to lay it down somewhere which takes up more room and then you have to worry about stepping on it.The Dyson DC44 is supposed to pick up items a lot better than the DC35, but when trying to pick up a small piece of paper off of the couch, I had to roll over it 4 times before it did so.I bought the cordless so I could move quickly around the house without having to stop and plug and unplug all the time. So the fact that the Dyson runs out of battery so quickly doesn't help me get the job done when you have to stop and wait for hours until it recharges. We have central vac in our home and I dislike having to haul the long hose around all the time and thought a vacuum cleaner like these would be great for those quick messes.Bottom-line - if I could only buy one cordless vacuum, it would be the Shark.PS - I use it so much in our remodeled basement with a smile that my husband said if he would have known this vacuum would have made me smile so much he would have bought me one a long time ago - as silly as that sounds - it is true. One down side to the Shark - when vacuuming if you are in tight spaces and you go to vertical the machine locks into standing mode

I’ve had a Dyson for awhile and wanted to switch it up for the upstairs floor. This vacuum is simple and gets the job done. Good battery life and great suction for dust and hair on rugs.

I bought this vacuum back in May of 2021 for work. After being abused everyday for 2 years the piece that connects to the bottom piece to the body finally broke apart. Although considering the only cleaning I ever did was for the filter and the inside I'd say it lasted pretty long without any actual maintenance done for it. The battery lasted enough to vacuum a semi-large warehouse and deal with a lot of random crap and large pieces of dust. As long as you clean it at least like once a month it should be fine. Make sure you clean out the brushroll too and put a stick through the bottom to the neck to get rid of anything stuck inside. Easy maintenance like I said that made it last 2 years just doing that.

I purchased this vacuum after doing a little bit of research for a light-weight battery operated vacuum. I already have a regular Shark vacuum and a Shark automatic vacuum that work great so wanted to stick with the Shark family. The other battery operated vacuums from other brands (the stick kind) seem unappealing to me since they won't actually stand on their own- I don't want to have to constantly lean my vacuum against a wall or piece of furniture (or mount a holder to the wall). This Shark vacuum does stand on its own AND stands on the charging base- no need to grab a charger and fumble trying to get it plugged into the vacuum. When it's time to charge, just sit it down on the base and boom- charging! The vacuum has two modes (with roller and without roller) and I mostly use the mode with the roller going. This has sufficient suction for everything I've used it on. I'd imagine if you're deep cleaning your whole house you'd want to go ahead and bust out a regular corded vacuum that most likely has stronger suction and is better for that type of task. If you're trying to pick up random hair, leaves tracked in on shoes, dust bunnies, or other random things that have fallen on the floor- this vacuum should be up to the task! Emptying the dust bin comes pretty easily too.I'd say skip the stick vacuums and go with this Shark model instead! Just be realistic with what you're purchasing- you're most likely not going to get the same exact suction from any battery operated vacuum that you get from a full size plug in vacuum, unless you only want about 5 minutes of battery life. For me, this vacuum is more than adequate for day to day spot cleaning in between full on cleanings with the regular vacuum.

I Love this Shark Cordless lightweight vacuum, setup very simple. Amazing suction, picks up well on my plush thick carpet, easy to handle. One story, 4 bedrooms, family room, living/dining room. Hallway large kitchen nook, service porch, 3 baths n hall tiled. Its a joy to vacuum, No More hassling cord always in the way. Picks up well on tile flooring. Easy to vacuum tight areas, under furniture better than my Shark Liftaway that constantly falls over when tank is removed from vacuum, and has nicked up walls. constant repairs. also dust n debris get stuck before going thru brush, yes n this is a duo clean. constant cleaning out. hardly anything gets in dirty bin. Watched the video, made to look so simply! Not! Two big sharks, 1st one hose cracked, parts are not replaceable. Emptying dust bin is simple n wipe it out before putting back on vacuum. Filter rinses easily n dries fairly fast, i pat it dry first with towel to remove excess water. I vacuum high traffic areas several times a day now such a breeze, no cord to rewind, no tools falling off vacuum. I vacuum master mattress when sheets n mattress cover are being laundered. Can do whole Cal King mattress from one side of bed. Allergist suggest mattress vacuuming once a week due to allergies, dust mites allergy gone, shots did the trick. Dust mites live on mattress bedding, fabric sofa ETC on top of ceiling fans!!!! SENIOR Single person household, no pets / Allergies, n children grown. Vacuum is stored behind door in my office, vacuum plugged into charger. double doors to office, one doesn't open all the way leaving lil triangle to hide vacuum n plug is also behind the door. No one knows it there. Just received vacuum one week ago, so far so good. Its always charged ready to go. I read all the reviews carefully. Even though some said DON'T BUY because of issues, I decided to take a chance n so glad I did! I would definitely buy again I purchased the extended warranty also. NOTE: usually don't buy even with a few bad reviews.

This is my second one in 10 years so I can't complain. I use this for quick pick ups not for regular vacuuming.

This is by far the best vacuum that is self charging, and lightweight. I’ve had so many vacuum cleaners. I will never ever use anything but this now it is so good I highly recommend it.
