Works great with my dogs!

I have a pair of German Short-hair Pointers. They have shown a propensity to roam away from home. One in particular likes to climb my fence to get out of the yard. As active dogs they love to run so when they get out they cover lots of ground very fast. When they find a scent they are on it. See a deer and they are off. Turkey's are also exciting for them. So friends of mine (from whom I got the dogs) use this system and recommended it. I gave it a try and it sure does work for my dogs. Now, my dogs often visit and stay with the friends who use the system so they are already familiar with the system. I have also put training collars on them before so when the hear the beeps they know that means time to stop. It took them very little time to get used to the perimeter at my house. As far as I know, only once did one of them find the allure of Turkey's next door too hard to resist and he made it past the perimeter - but he has not done that again. At this point they respect the boundaries and would do so with the collars off. I did purchase one additional collar since I have two dogs and it worked initially but after about a month something went wrong and it shuts off. The dog still respects the limits even though it's not working. I called support and they are shipping me a new collar right away. So the support was very helpful and courteous. I also purchased a second transmitter so I could expand their area to roam. They will soon figure out their new boundaries. My property configuration is such that I can't put them as far apart from each other as I would prefer but it does help. I have read that some people have built small exterior shelters to house units so they can space them. I may do this but it does, of course, require power so that is the biggest issue with that for me.I can say, that for me and my dogs this unit works very well. Certainly much easier than burying wires - though that gives you much better control over your boundaries. You are limited to a circular pattern with this so I lose quite a bit of yard space for them. However, putting wire under asphalt driveways and such does not sound very appealing to me so this works great.

It’s really awesome. Works well. My poodle used to run away from home often. I bought pet safe wired electric fence before. I completed connection part but wire was visible in yard. My yard is quite uneven. I rented trencher to inground fence, but it was a hard job due to uneven yard. I returned wired electric fence and ordered wireless one. Within 10 min, I had started connection. Took god collar in yard around 50 feet. It beeped, YO. Done. Started training for my dog. He got trained in few min. He enjoys yard now. Thanks to petsafe. If don’t worry about $100, then go for wireless. Its less hectic. Don’t forget to charge dog collar every two to three weeks.Giving 5 stars.

Buy it now!

The media could not be loaded.  First off, we have 3 dogs but we mainly bought this for our newest addition, Sadie. Sadie Lynn is the craziest, most hard headed dog you will ever meet lol I was skeptical of this only because I thought she would bust right through it and keep on running. We received this product yesterday, I set up all the flags and started the training. It took her a couple hours to get the idea but today she has done wonderful and we’re already doing off leash training. She hasn’t passed the line at all today, as soon as she gets beeped she turns right back around. If this thing contains Sadie Lynn it can contain your dog! This product is super easy to set up and a great option if you can’t afford a full blown physical fence (like us) or don’t want to go through all that hassle. I highly recommend!

This fence has been a life saver!

It's been a year!We live on land with goat wire fencing that our dog can get through & run off. We set this fence up & she runs off Nomore! Best investment we've ever made as far as fencing goes. Our property is heavily wooded & she still stays within her perimeter, no problem. I am buying another collar today because the clip has cracked & the collar falls off of her. I'm sure I could replace the clip somehow or put the device on something else & make a new collar but have decided to just buy a new one & keep the old one as a backup. The only thing I wish was different is for her to have a little more room to run because we are on 4+ acres. It would be nice to set it to 1 or 2 acres without having more than 1 unit, but she's content with the 3/4 acre so I'm happy with the purchase.

UPGRADE from 3yo PetSafe Collar

We purchased the PetSafe “Free to Roam” wireless fence kit in October 2019. No issues so far with the radar dome, but the collar plastic cover broke in 2021. I was able to superglue it back together but it stopped working, even with a new battery in February 2022.We ordered a replacement and this one arrived in March 2022. The plastic cover seems to be the same so I’m going to knock it down a couple stars anticipating that we’re going to watch it break again in another couple of years. I’ll update my review if that happens. The upgrade I observed is that this one has a rechargeable battery. The original one we had required replacement batteries at about $8 per pair on Amazon at the time of this post. I only had to buy one set of replacement batteries in the 2.5 years we used the first one. So far, we’re still on the original charge after 2 months of use so it seems to hold up well. Hopefully we will be able to get several recharge cycles before it doesn’t charge. I see some reviews that we can expect 4 years.Overall, at $160 at the time of this post, it seems a tad pricey, but given the features and peace of mind it makes sense. We can let our dog, Archie, out and he stays within the bubble, never going outside of it except for that first time in 2019 when we set it up. He is always excited when we put it on. As you can see from the picture, the only thing more exciting is when he knows it’s time for dinner and wants to come in!

Super easy and very effective

I copied my review from the one I wrote on the collar to here, so if you look at an additional collar for this system, you'll see the same review:We have 2 dogs on this system and one of them is a long, thick haired Husky mix who was EXTREMELY hard to keep in the yard. He likes to run, and I didn't think anything could hold him. This Stay & Play system has been awesome. The first few days they both tested it a few times, running after rabbits and trying to follow people out walking their dogs. The Husky tried to run through it (he's been on an underground fence before) and quickly learned that running through it was not a good idea. They have both stayed in the yard ever since. We live in the country on top of a hill, one side of which is steep and ends about 50 feet down from where we keep the transmitter. I was worried that it would be a problem, but it doesn't seem to affect the signal at all. In fact, the only thing that I've found does affect the signal are trees. We have a line of trees at the end of our yard and they bounce the signal in several feet. Doesn't bother us any though because we prefer that they don't go past them anyway. The battery life isn't bad. We had to recharge it after the first 2 weeks, but I think that was because they were testing it. It's been 3 weeks since then and we haven't had to charge it again. I'm guessing sometime within the next week, we'll need to recharge based on other reviews. Our dogs wear them 24/7 and we don't turn them off when they come in. It doesn't seem to bother them at all to wear them. I haven't seen any signs of irritation on their skin. We have a 2 story log house. The logs do not affect the signal at all (not sure why trees do). The dogs can go upstairs and there is no interruption of the signal. As I understand it, the system is based on a radio signal. As long as the collar receives the signal, the dog is not shocked. There are no blind spots where the dog can go through. If the dog goes out of range, it loses the radio signal, and it will give a warning and within a second start shocking, and the dog must either return to the yard or after several seconds the shock eventually stop. They are several LONG seconds for the dog, if they choose not to return to the yard. There is not much time between the warning and the shock, but as long as the dog learns the boundary it's not really an issue. We had to put both collars on level 4 for our dogs. We tried the lower levels but they are very stubborn and rabbits are really fun to chase.

Game changer

My dog used to be a runner! I mean open the door and she’d be halfway down the street. I was skeptical at first after trying multiple gps collars that I didn’t trust because the lines were never accurate. So far this has been wonderful she is like a whole different dog. It is much more enjoyable to play with her outside without a lead and her recall has greatly improved! 100% would recommend this to a friend.

Works just like the one out of the box

I had no problems getting this connected to the wireless transmitter. And it works like a dream just like the other collar we had that came from the box with the transmitter kit.

The collar stopped working after 6 months

Overall the system works well. I own 2 to keep 2 aggressive dogs separate on my property. Both dogs know how it works very well after a few weeks. They also know if the collar is on or not, they’ve totally figured it out, but won’t cross the perimeter if they have their collars on. The perimeters will combine if both units are on at the same time. My only complaint is that one of the collars stopped working completely after 6 months. I had to order a replacement for another 150 bucks. Read the training directions carefully and don’t rush it is my best advice.
