My 6 yr old loves it!

I was afraid he’d have difficulty with it since he doesn’t know how to read yet and a lot of the reading games are for more advanced kids. They are set up for kids that already know the basics and just want to improve. This one is more for kids that know their letters and are starting to learn words. my son can play this on his own, without me, having to help read things for him and figure it out. His teacher says he’s the best in his kindergarten class with writing and reading!

Perfect learning gift for your kids

We bought Genius kit after hearing about it since long from kid's school and our friends who has the product. After playing with the product along with my daughter, I would highly recommend it and think it is every penny worth at the price $99.99. Though there are a lot of learning games in the market which allows kids to learn basic mathematics and practice it; I think this one is unique because it never makes them glued to the screen. As far a kid is concerned, it's like they are playing with chips of a board game or using a pen to draw and competing to finish the challenges thrown by the screen. That is so cool!Of all the games, I loved the Numbers game. I can't think about a better way to teach kids addition and subtraction and that too at a mental math level. Osmo team has figured out a way to make the kids relate addition to "bring units together" and subtraction to "separate out units". That's precisely what it is and since the idea is hit at such a basic level, kids are easily able to grasp the concepts. I would highly recommend all parents to play these games along with the kids and gently let them understand that the things they are doing in Numbers game is nothing but the "boring" addition and subtraction they learn at their school. I have seen this really motivating my daughter who has now started using the mental calculation idea back at school while doing the same. In my opinion, this the best way to derive unbelievable value out of this product. You just need to do it a couple of times, your child will take it up from there. Similarly, found the Words game a good way to improve spellings and vocabulary. Osmo has lot more libraries on their My Osmo portal. Make sure you sign up while doing registration and download these libraries.

Kiddo loves this

I got this as a warehouse deal, but I would've gladly paid full price. My son loves this system. He just turned 5 and started kindergarten, and still wants to play with Osmo after dinner. He loves the math and letter games and the tangrams especially. The Newton and Masterpiece portions are still a little difficult for him but with some parental help he manages them OK and it gives him some room to grow his skills. The app was very easy to set up and install, and I appreciate it can be used offline. We set it up on an old Fire tablet we had, and we use a flat white board sheet for the drawing portion. That also gives him a space for tangrams. I'm not sure if a new one would come with the actual whiteboard, or if mine was missing since it was a warehouse deal. But even a sheet of paper would work, laminated or in a clear sleeve if you have it to use a dry erase marker, or just a pen for Newton and Masterpiece if you don't mind getting a new paper each time.

Despite Negative Reviews, We Love It!

We got this as a Christmas gift for our 6 year old son, and so far, he and I have both enjoyed playing it together! I will say that the games included in the kit aren’t quite as much fun as the games that can be purchased separately. We really enjoyed Math Buzz but it did seem to get a little repetitive. He also got bored with Tangram after creating 5 or so shapes. We haven’t tried any of the other games that were included so I can’t speak on those. So far the only other game we’ve purchased separately and opened is Detective Agency, and it is a lot of fun! The additional games aren’t inexpensive so this may not be the system for your child if you don’t want to have to buy additional games to keep things fresh. But the games are similar in price to Xbox, Nintendo, etc. So if they put a little more time between him and those “big boy” consoles, that’s worth it to me.

Love learning through play, inspiring love of art, no additional charge for apps, yay!

I love that my son enjoys playing with this and he is learning as he plays. I thought it might be too advanced for my 4 year old however, they didn't have little genius set for kindle yet, but he's doing great. We were able to use our own dry erase board for the masterpiece app as well and he loves mo the monster. I thought(explanation follows)it may be a little overpriced as the cards are like a laminated cardboard and could be easily worn but it's new and a great concept. I love that they include the plastic storage containers which will help keep the cards organized and from getting messed up. I didn't like that in order to download the apps I had to but a new kindle as the app wasn't available on older models, however I picked one up on a deal so it wasn't as bad as I feared. Over all I am very happy I made the purchase because my son loves playing with it and is learning at the same time. I also appreciate that the apps are free and not added purchases after paying for the setup, it makes the overall price more understandable. If need be I would purchase again since it is inspiring my son to enjoy drawing as well as learning to add, subtract, make words, etc. I also love that as he get older I can get other "games" to keep the learning going as he grows. Well worth it in my opinion. Great job osmo thank you!

Great

My son struggles with letter sounds and spelling and the Osmo genius starter pack has been a great extra learning tool for him!He gets really excited when he passes a level especially if he’s doing it independently. If you’re worrying about whether this is worth the money, it definitely is. Learning made fun and easy for kids to do on their own.
