Worth every Cent

My wife had first heard about the Osmo form a friend of her's just before leaving to go to Japan, leaving our oldest (years old), with me who would be using the solution. I was not sure during the unboxing once it arrived wither or not It’s was just an extension for the iPad that includes interactive apps and games. It seemed like an interesting concept, but I wasn’t sure how it would be practical for us. Is a tool that fortifies learning and proportional thinking, or is it just another app?  I was really impressed with how really well-made it is. It feels like it will actually hold up to normal wear and tear with our two young vibratious boys. The apps he liked the most from what I see are the ones that required you to really engage with both the physical part of the game as well as the screen.Overall, he really enjoys Osmo and has taken to using it every day after online school to my surprise. I think we'll be investing more in this "e-learning" platform as we move forward in this post-COVID 19 online schooling world.

Tons of Educational fun

My 5 year old was able to play with the Osmo kits at our public library (even though they recommend it for older kids) and LOVED the few games she tried out. I bought her the Genius kit to start off with. The numbers and tangram games are her favorites. I think she will love the words game more once she gets the hang of it. The masterpiece game is just not for us. The Newton game was fun but we are still learning. Over all we love the Osmo and look forward to adding more games to our collection. Some basic info if you buy the Osmo Genius kit, it comes with *almost* everything you need to play the 5 apps that are part of the genius kit. Numbers, Words and Tangrams come with pieces which are included in the kit. Newton really requires a white board - dry erase board and pen. You can use paper but it's easier with a dry erase board. We ended up using a white plastic lid in place of a dry erase board. Masterpiece you use paper I believe, you could probably use a dry erase board but since you are drawing paper and pencil or pen work better. Yes, you do have to download all 5 apps.

Good product, reasonable price.

I use this product with my English Language Learners in lower primary grades. This helps them with vocabulary acquisition.

A great way for kids to actually interact with screens

I love this product, I really do. It is so much better and more fun than zoning out on YouTube (*cough* Ryan *cough*). My daughter is 4 and she got this for Christmas 2018. It has quickly become her favorite toy. She loves the monster (which is not actually included in this pack but is a free download that does not need anything special other than a whiteboard and dry erase marker) she had never been very interested in drawing and watching him pull her drawings up into the screen and interact with them is so exciting for her! Santa also brought her a super spiffy convertible easle/table with a whiteboard side that works perfectly with this. Good lighting is important so the camera can clearly see. She enjoys the other games too, but the Monster is by far her favorite. I feel much better about her screentime now that we have this because I feel like she is learning more than she would, even with ABC mouse. I am confident that this is a toy she will be able to grow into and enjoy for many years. My only complaint is that I can not figure out how to add the various games into the Osmo "home" app in Freetime. For now she plays it on my account on her Fire tablet but I think that is something that hopefully will be fixed soon

Such a great product

We got this for our daughters Christmas gift and it’s a huge hit. We love all the areas it helps kids explore and build confidence in their skills and just wish they had more to buy!

Meh - overpriced

I think it’s over priced for what it is. There are so many educational apps out there that don’t cost this much. This one has interactive playing pieces but they’re some plastic or wooden pieces. A plastic base to hold your iPad. And a plastic piece with a mirror that sits on your camera to reflect down. This cost nothing to make. Not worth the cost it’s charging you. So there are 5 games I think. My 5 yr old kid does like them. So that’s good. But if you wanna buy any more games you’ll spend a whole lot more again.Personally we get a lot more out of abc mouse and homer app. We pay a much smaller monthly or annual fee for those. We can take them on the go without any pieces. And those allow al my kids of different ages to play their own level for the same price on one account. So I would suggest those over Osmo. You get much more bang for your buck and it can be used for all ages anywhere you are.

Incomplete.

Didn’t come with everything I needed so it never worked and when my daughter opened it and we found out it was too late to return then couldn’t find the piece to order separately. Wasted money.

Pretty neat

This kit is pretty cool!Although it needs an almost rubberband like attachment for the reflector before it is usable, so make sure you buy that for $10, or you can’t use the kit (at least for the Kindle Fire)My child really likes it so far, but the tablet has to be out of its case, so that’s fun. And I wish the kits all came with a work surface area so my kid knows where to place to pieces without the app telling her to scoot everything side to side or up and down. (She gets frustrated with that)

Fantastic learning system!

As a former teacher, I tend to like physical hands-on learning experiences and am not big on the whole “screen time” thing for young children. HOWEVER, the OSMO learning system is AMAZING. Seriously, neatest game system ever. I love watching my kiddos play it and don’t even feel guilty about letting them have screen time to play on it during the week. What you get for the price point is worth every penny. The apps are easy to install and navigate. The games are fantastic and very engaging, without being over the top. The first few times I had to help my Kindergartener get it set up, but after a few times playing with it, she can even set it up for her preschool aged sibling. I’m so glad we chose to purchase the Genius set rather than piece by piece, though we did add the Pizza game (addition/subtraction/math), as well as the Detective game (problem solving) as separate purchases (which are also a big hit at our house!).
