Poor product support

Door bell works well with a new battery. The original battery that came with it lasted 3 weeks. I tightened the geofence and made a few adjustments to not have it detect every motion. I also ordered a back up battery. Charged the original battery and reinstalled. Lasted 3 weeks. Replaced it with the new battery I bought and it's been fine. I contacted Amazon and they said it was beyond the return date (bought it as a Christmas present for a family member) and to contact Ring I tried to use the chat function on the Ring website and because I put battery issues in the chat function it kept sending me to the self help. I tried calling the number and couldn't get through. They finally wore me down and I bought another battery, another $30, and gave up on their support. I give them thumbs up for the product itself but a big thumbs down on the product support.

Good with a few motion detection issues

I didn’t have a doorbell before and really like the ring for ease of set up and use and “general” ability to monitor people approaching the house. A few issues I’ve noticed: 1) sometimes the ring doesn’t pick up anything at all. There have been a few times where I get packages that show up on my step and the ring detected nothing. There was even once where the landscapers came and mowed the grass and I received no notification anyone was in front of the house which is odd given they were mowing/walking around for 20-30 mins 2) there is a delay, which is to be expected, but there have been a few times when the ring didn’t actually go off until someone is already at the door, despite having the sensitivity to include the walkway and driveway. I’m happy to have something that generally works but would feel safer if it wasn’t a bit spotty.

Not Bad!

I've never had one of these devices and over the last summer I decided to purchase one. I did plenty of research and found that this particular model had the best overall performance with the least amount of break-downs. My existing doorbell wiring was already a low-voltage connection. As such, I was able to hook it up directly to the Ring Doorbell for a 'trickle-charge'. I bought a second battery at the suggestion of my brother - who has an older model, but I've yet to have to change it! I've had this for about 5 or so months and it works very well - even through rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow and extreme heat. I did some modifications to it (putting silicone around the edging to further protect it from the elements) with no issues. Setup was easy and the notifications are great! Even when I'm not home, I can see whenever someone comes near my door/front area. Good job, Ring!

Firmware issue

The first couple of weeks all worked great. Then nothing except an expensive button. Support had me hard reset the device and it would connect until it was done with an update. If your tech says "there is nothing that can be done" they are wrong. After making it exceedingly clear that it was unacceptable a supervisor changed what version my device would run. A hard reset and update later things are working again.

Good camera except at night

The packaging and accessories for the doorbell camera are both very good. The accessories include everything to get the camera mounted, battery charged and setup of the camera. The install options allow you to tailor the camera to work in whatever setting the camera will be used. I would say the camera images during the day time are as you see on commercials. Crystal clear. My issue is the operation at night when I think the camera is most needed. My camera, during the day, senses when I open my storm door and no person is in view. At night, I walked out and back in, with a porch light on, and it never sensed my presence. This is disappointing. Do not get me wrong. I recommend this product. Seriously, I wish I had bought sooner and will be buying another one for my back door. My warning is do not rely on it for dark areas. I am adding a motion flood light to assist my Ring. In today's world, everyone should have a Ring.

Best purchase in year’s! Well worth it!

Finally got ours! So excited! Also came with an Echo show which displays the view anytime anyone rings the doorbell. Nothing bad to say about this doorbell. We only wish that the video would display a lot faster as it takes about a 45 seconds to display when it detects motion (which makes it a little less effective). Besides that, great sound, vivid video streaming, and strong detection sensors. We actually had to minimize the sensors because it was dinging us everytime a car passed down the street. Also, the Ring neighborhood app is a bit overwhelming with all of the reports popping up but extremely helpful. There is even a detailed crime map for the area. Interesting to see the incidents which have been reported that we usually never even hear about. We did have to replace the battery pretty quickly because we had the motion detection set so high but it’s been good since we turned it down to stop picking up every car that passed by our house. I haven’t heard anyone complain about their ring doorbell ever!

Good, but the concept of the Smart Home only exists if you go all in with one ecosystem

So far I really like this doorbell with one exception. Installation was easy, as was setup. Took longer to perform a firmware update than it did to get the device installed in front of my home. Connectivity seems to be good so far too. Can't comment on the battery life yet, but I have all the settings turned to moderate so we'll see. Still trying to figure out how not to get chimed when I go to check my mail, but that's probably just some settings in the motion detection that need tweaking. The big negative is that I use Nest WiFi and Google Home as my primary wifi / hub and Ring absolutely refuses to play nice with it. I get that they're competing products, but it's pretty ridiculous that these two "smart" devices are purposely dumbed down so as to not work with each other. Truth of the matter is, this doesn't make me want to get either an Alexa speaker or a Nest doorbell. It makes me leery of buying from either brand going forward. Hopefully they'll get this fixed. But for now, if you primarily use Google Home, prepare to be disappointed.

Nice device to have to monitor your doors

I think Ring 3 is a good product although a bit pricy. It gives a sharp & clean fisheye picture and so far it stays connected to my WIFI (2g) even though the signal outside my front door is not very strong. I found it best to start with a fully charged battery before deploying it in the device. Otherwise it might not charge until it is below like 40% (my experience). If you fully charge it first it will start charging again when it falls below 85-90% Overall, I recommend this product for both protection and for it serving as a doorbell. Works OK with my Echo dot and Echo show devices to provide both motion and door bell alerts. I added a Ring Chime for added sound and found it plenty loud to be heard everywhere in my 2700 sq ft home. Only problem is there is a considerable delay when you ask the Echo Show to show the device and when it actually appears on the display. Not a game changer but it needs to be improved in later releases.

Works better than the Ring 2, and battery issue much easier to deal with, so a good choice as an upgrade
