Once installed it seems to work pretty good but the installation process was very clunky. I hit a number of screens that were confusing or inaccurate for my device (Ring Video doorbell 3). The biggest issue was trying to connect my existing door chime. They need to do a much better job on the information as to what is and not compatible. From what I can figure out, this unit works with 16 volt chimes. My chime is 20 volt (according to my multimeter). Initially connected it an did not work. Then checked connections and voltage and used a jumper to test it. All good. Reconnected it and it worked for about 5 minutes. When to the chat service on the ring.com site. Sorry, chat site does not support installation...I did have good luck with tech support. Only waited about 30 seconds and got pretty clear but frustrating info "we have a lot of trouble with existing chimes, sounds like yours is not compatible." They sent me a list of chimes known to work. We now have it the Ring unit ringing on two phones and an iPad. Waiting to see if we need a chime (probably not). If we do, looks like cheapest solution is to add a wireless unit from Ring. Wish I had known all this before spending 2 hours trying to troubleshoot this issue.

The tool does not fit any of the screws from the camera nor any of the anchor screws... Wtf!

It's OK, but for all the talk about this device I was disappointed 😞. I also have an Amcrest doorbell I ordered from Amazon a while back and paid 99.00 and it is awesome it has color night vision, 1080p, it has wide angle views and it doesn't lag as long the ring doorbell. I switched it out for this ring doorbell and I am very upset that it doesn't have color night vision and it lags for about 8 seconds before the feed shows up. If something were to happen it would be hard for me to describe the events by everything being in black and white and the night vision isn't clear as my Amcrest doorbell that I moved to the side of my home. But I do like that I can tell Alexa to show me the camera while watching my fire tv and ring users can share feed amongst other community ring users, but other than that I'm totally disappointed 😞

Disappointed, not as easy to install and ridiculously impossible to find the correct battery that’s compatible with this version. Expected a lot more form this product.

Don't try to use it behind a storm door or any kind of glass or screen. The motion detector will not work at all behind glass, it detects motion with a PIR sensor (passive infrared). I thought they used the camera to detect motion - they don't. This should be clearly explained on the sales page and box. The night camera function is also significantly impaired (maybe 75% ?) when behind glass. Otherwise picture is impressive and good lensing for most applications. But I wanted it safe from people and the elements behind my storm door. That does NOT work. For most people the best spot to mount this is right dead center on your front door at the recommended 4' height. But no storm door or screen.

With days technology the Video on the Ring camera doorbell are way below par. Almost every other camera Doorbell Manufacturer supports a minimum of 2K technology. That is the difference of seeing clearly a license plate or displaying nothing but a blur.

Never misses a squirrel, but seems to be blind on many package deliveries, which is why we bought the darn thing. How can it see squirrels or cars going down the street but not a delivery person walking right up to it? Waste of money. An edit to the original review…we tried many adjusts and configurations before calling customer service at one point for help before leaving a one star review. But because we gave a one star review a dedicated customer service rep called us to help us adjust our ring camera. Mind you, this was after calling to get help from a customer service rep that did us little more than the written install instructions, so his help wasn’t very helpful. We were contacted by phone and email to get our issues resolved … to adjust our cameras and settings in a way that actually did what we wanted the ring to do. Our rep monitored our ring for a week and emailed us additional suggestions. Had our first call for help been this helpful we wouldn’t have left the first review. Also, from when we first installed it and when we made final adjustments, the settings and camera view software was updated to allow a more customizable camera view/monitoring area. So, we are basically happy with it now but it was not easy to get to this point.

Sure. Now they drop the price by $20 bucks after I purchased mine. Overall, when it works, it works well. However, it is very hit and miss with detecting motion. I have tried for three weeks to modify the settings so it will provide competent motion detection, but it is always unpredictable. Just this afternoon, three people walked across my grass, with their dog. No notification. Two minutes later, a car drove by, then another, on the road, outside of the "Motion Zones" and both sent notifications. I've had the mail man come to my door, and friends drop stuff off on my porch with no notifications, but a cat can walk down the gutter and set it off. No rhyme nor reason. Just very unpredictable. I've had to shut off notifications at night as it will go off when cars drive by, out of the motion zones. But a group of deer walked through my yard the other night (I could see the hoof prints in the snow) and no detection. Not sure what can be done to resolve the lack of reliability. In fairness, installation was relatively easy and the ability to make changes to sensitivity is easy, as well. One word of caution: When attaching the doorbell to the available wall mount, be careful not to over tighten the screws into the wall plate. Doing so makes the battery cover very difficult to attach.

I don’t see much difference between the Ring 2 and this one.
