For the most part it does its job. I should have thought ahead because now I want the full set up with security and I won't have any need for this. The motion detection zone feature is a plus and the neighborhood info is a plus. Anyone who has one is notified of things you normally wouldn't worry about. Anyone who has one is notified of neighborhood disturbances if others post it. have to get use to setting it to snooze if you decide you just want to step outside, your phone will be buzzing all day. My only issue is I don't fully understand how the doorbell works or goes off. If my phone is on vibrate, my regular doorbell goes off in the house but if it's not then the ring doorbell goes off for the house. For $3 a month you can record and store, honestly that's all you really need if you have other security connected to 911 and other things.

This is a great product. I gave it 4 stars instead of 4 because you have to pay a yearly cost to have videos recorded and saved.

Depending on your wifi network complexity, setting may take some time if not be challenging. Once set up, mine has now been about a month, it works as expected. Camera angle/coverage: If you adjust the placement height as suggested in instructions, you'll miss an important area closer to the bottom of your door where packages are usually left. I guess, notwithstanding your preferred application, placing the camera a tad lower may give you a better coverage down below as well as adequately covering the approach-to-door angle. Of course, if installation site permits, higher placement with the use of a wedge adapter might be the way to go. Battery: First month's results may not be complete since I have tinkered a bit and kept the Ring Camera running longer than normally it should be. As such, I am at 60%. I have replaced the battery with a new one and will probably have a better idea on how long it lasts on this stretch. Instruction manual could be clearer.

I do like this device, but some times Alexa can not pull up the camera image. I would recommend connecting this to low voltage wire or to the solar power supply. With one of these, it works very well. Power could be a problem if using this product on battery only, highly recommend supplementing the battery.

I bought a whole bunch of devices and was really looking forward to this door bell. I even bought 2 but the motion detection is terrible. I have to walk all the way up to it about 2 feet before motion is detected. I was hoping at least 10 feet out. My detection zone is set correct as well but I don’t know why it’s so terrible with detection. Some times I can walk within 1 feet and motion is not detected. I even set it to max sensitivity. Very very disappointed. Since it’s only day 1, I will play with it a little more but if things don’t improve I’m going to return for a replacement. I thought motion is up to 30 feet? My stick up camera has good motion distance. Why isn’t the doorbell the same or better? It costs more. Update: so after giving this some time it’s working pretty good. I think I had an incorrect setting with snooze without knowing what it does. Now detection and alert is working as expected. For some reason though my front door bell is draining batteries faster than my back. They are both door bell 3 and battery operated and set to same for all settings and traffic is pretty much the same.

It’s great, and when it captures movement I can clearly see what is going on at my house. I didn’t realize that it’s not a motion detector, but scans the area every so many minutes for movement, so it doesn’t catch everything.

We got the ring doorbell because a FedEx driver threw a package of clothes at our door destroying our old doorbell. Now if that ever happens again, we'll have video proof of their negligence. I like the ring doorbell because it connects to my Apple watch and buzzes every time someone is at the door. I currently have a newborn and people are constantly dropping off food. It's fun to watch them. I also now know immediately when Amazon packages are delivered. The only downside is we didn't get a chime box (which I believe should be included in this price), so our doorbell doesn't ring, only buzzes our phones. We made an executive decision to keep it this way because of said newborn, but I found that my phone buzzes quite a lot so I find myself accidentally ignoring when one of those buzzes is a doorbell ring. I can't speak to installation, because we hired a handyman to do it. When he took out the power drill, I know we made the right decision. My husband isn't handy. It comes with the choice of a brown or silver covering for the bottom half. I chose brown to match our house coloring/door and I think it looks really good.

**Update** I had a hard time with these cameras. I was about to sell them and try a different brand. I ended up changing my internet modem and wifi router from a Motorola to a netgear nighthawk. That resolved all the issues i had with these cameras. They actually work as they are supposed to now. **Original review** These are absolute junk. I installed them and battled with them for a ling time. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I have two of them i purchased at the same time. They both have the same issues and from everything i have read, support blanes your internet connection on everything. I have high speed internet. The issues i have with it is: i have them set to record 30 seconds when motion is detected. I am lucky if it records three frames. I get motion alerts but am never able to go to a live view. Anytime i try to go live it fails to connect. The only thing these are good for is watching motion recording ten minutes after they happen.

Bought this back in January, I wanted to give myself sometime before I reviewed it since I’ve seen mixed reviews. The battery life makes me question whether this purchase was worth it, honestly. Other than that I have no issues with the doorbell. I just wish it lasted more than a month without having to constantly recharge. Had to buy another battery as a back up for when the other one dies. Also, probably most important note: it’s on the recommended settings but that still doesn’t help with the battery life.
