Two of the prices in our set arrived with significant cracks in them. One white Queen and one knight. Other than that, it is a very nice set.

These are nice, but the peaces still feel light, to light for me.

Initially I loved the way it looked however once you open it up to play a game. The board isn’t straight at the seam where the two sides join.

We love the size of the board, and the pieces look and feel really good (the king is 3.5 inches tall) but the pieces are light and fall all about. We are going to hunt for heavier pieces, same size. Any suggestions?

Really wish this was magnetic. Also the felt on the bottom of the pieces is so thin it's worthless. Needs to be thicker felt. Also, to put the pieces up, you have to do so one at a time, and take them out one at a time. Very frustrating. Wish they all came in a bag.

Wooden parts not matching exactly. Looks more expensive and professional at the pictures. The wood often shows defects. Uneven surfaces. Looks cheap. The felt below the chess figures is very thin. Sometime you can see parts or remains of the glue. Kind of disappointed.

Looks nice at first but then you notice it. Board wont lay flush, A deep factory scratch on edge of board that was coated over and light pieces that will fall over with a light bump. Save your money on this one.

The board is the nicest thing on this set. the chessmen and light and flimsy and not what I expected. I had a really nice set that I lost in Superstorm Sandy in 2012. I was hoping this set would match that set's quality. I am still looking for a quality chess set. Otherwise, it is playable but lacks the feeling of CHESSMEN.

So here's an honest review from a chess player and collector of fine products like House of Staunton. I bought this set to take in vacations with my dad, and to play strangers in parks (when covid ends). It will serve that purpose. He wanted something big so we can take professional pieces that are large and use them occasionally with it. The bottom edges of the board are sharp, so you should not put it on a table without a cloth underneath. If the board slides it would scratch a table. The pieces are light, to be expected at this price range. They will pretty much fall instantly but this is a budget buy. The screws on the hinges are loose, and the only way to get to them is to cut the felt covering them. The good part of the hinges is that they are invisible when playing or folded. The squares are not real squares, each half of the board is a single piece of wood with squares glued on top. If you pull the straps too much when removing or putting back the pieces, they can rip the felt a bit. Overall low quality materials and construction. The magnets that hold the board closed when folded do work though, you can hold just the top half of the board and it won't swing open. If you want a board for you or kids to learn on, this is a good option with 2 inch squares. It's really not a nice set, but the cardboard box holds the board perfectly when folded so it's good enough for traveling. I think the pieces would fall over if I played outdoors but maybe calm days with no wind would work. Not bad, not good. Good enough for the price. Note: THE BOARD WILL NOT FOLD UNLESS THE PIECES ARE PUT BACK EXACTLY AS PICTURED. VERY ANNOYING, SAVE A PICTURE OF THIS POSITION.

I like the display of the product but I do have some complaints. The pieces came in dirty and chipped, didn’t think it was worth what I spent for it. I feel like I should have just bought a used one. I like that it came w all the pieces and an extra queen in both colors. I like that it has a place the out the pieces but when I try to put them back in, the chess board doesn’t want to fully close anymore. I guess you need to put them back in a certain order. But it does what it’s meant to do and that’s to play chess lol
