I love getting other things done while my floors are being vacuumed. With 2 big shedding dogs, I really needed this. Obviously, I have to put up all the chairs and barstools and anything else on the floor but it does a great job getting over small thin rugs. It doesn’t do a good job on high pile carpet, where it leaves wads of dog hair behind.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas. It was her request, so that got me off the hook if it didn’t work! Frankly, I didn’t EXPECT it to work very good. How could that little thing with hardly any suction at all POSSIBLY clean carpets and hard floors. I was so wrong! I have gone from skeptic to absolute fan! This little guy has exceeded my expectations dramatically. Our hard floors used to be continually dirty. You know how it is. Either sweeping or dusting mopping constantly to keep hard floors clean. I really didn’t expect the Roomba to do much with the hard surfaces. Boy was I wrong! I love it for the hard floors! I love emptying the bin and finding an incredible amount of stuff every time! Plus, by keeping the hard floors clean our carpets have stayed cleaner as well. And it does great on carpets. Or at least on ours. We have good quality plush carpet that’s all one length. We don’t have pets, so I can’t comment on pet hair. We don’t have kids, so small objects and toys and things of that sort are not a problem. But the carpets themselves look fantastic after the Roomba goes through the house. Occasionally, I leave little bits of debris on the floor intentionally to see if it’s going to pick up small shreds of paper or the odd piece of string or something of that sort. The result is… If it’s not something that is stuck to the carpet it usually gets picked up by the Roomba. I did not get the additional canister that empties when on the charging base. Therefore I usually have to empty it twice to cover the whole house if I go several days between cleaning. About 2500 ft.². The first couple of cleanings were especially fun when I let it go under the beds and rooms where we have lived for many years. I really didn’t expect it to be able to clean the accumulated dust under the beds. It did fantastic! Of course, it’s little debris area filled up rapidly, and several times, when cleaning in areas that had not been vacuumed in a long time. It took two and three times running under beds before they were really clean underneath and the dust bin didn’t fill up. After the initial cleaning or two, even under the beds and throughout the entire house can be cleaned usually without having to empty the dustbin. All I can say is I’m glad my wife wanted this for Christmas! Roomba has been a great cleaning asset to our house!

I have long delayed on picking up an autonomous vacuum as I have heard more horror stories than happy owners. For Christmas this year, we decided to take the plunge and get one to save us some housework (or at least reduce the frequency that we'd need to sweep. We have all laminate flooring in a single story house, so it's practically a requirement to sweep daily. With all the options on the market, and rabid fans for each brand, it's very difficult to get honest information on what which ones within given price brackets win out and which features are really important to have. Ultimately, we opted to give the roomba a shot since during the black friday sales, nearly all competitors had their pricing roughly around the same levels for similar devices. We opted for the i3 for highest suction power to lowest cost. In hindsight, I wish we had gone with the i7 for the ability to map our house out and designate zones for specific cleaning (would have been a excellent feature for days when I was in meetings and the roomba could not get to my room to clean during its scheduled time). As for the actual device itself, my expectations were very tempered for considering what we were purchasing. Fortunately, I can say that we have been very satisfied with Nagatha's performance (kudos to anyone that gets the reference). It is surprisingly thorough considering the i3 re-maps the floors every time it cleans. Only on particularly high traffic days do we ever notice particles on the floor, and that's usually hours after it has made it rounds. The only cons I have (if it really can be considered a con) is that it picks up some much animal fur and particle junk that its not uncommon for the bin to be full and have to cancel it's clean until the bin is cleared. Having the option to resume a clean after the bin is emptied would be nice, and not have it start all over again (A full clean of our house usually takes 2 full charges and roughly 2.5 hours of cleaning with roughly an hour of charge time between that). Being able to pause a clean and send roomba back to its base to charge while on pause, then resume when ready (because sometimes I have longer meetings during the scheduled clean times) would be a nice to have feature so we don't have to start the whole clean over. Last complaint is the cost of replacement parts. Considering the glut of off market replacement options and how well these cheaper alternatives seem to perform/review, iRobot should seriously consider making replacement parts (like filters) either reusable or competitive with alternatives. Overall, 5/5 based on my tempered expectations of what these things would actually get done. Quite satisfied with it's performance so far. Looking forward to upgrading to an i7 (or the equivalent of that) in the future.

Does an amazing job of picking up objects, not just dust and pet hair. Really love this vac. Kitchen is spotless every morning. We use on hardwood floors. Can't speak to carpet, but probably just as good.

I’ve had this about two weeks. Any problem I had setting it up was my lack of reading the instructions. You must let it travel over your entire floor to map without interruption. I hadn’t prepared well at one spot and it got caught on a higher than normal door jam so I lifted it up and set it on the other side. Ok so the map didn’t work why not ? Read the directions. Prepped that spot so it could go over it and redid the mapping worked just fine. The room dividers and names are easy to change but you have to wait till it’s ready for you to do it. Also forgot to wipe off the sides n sensors after emptying the bin. Except for me it works like a charm

I loved how easy is to use it. Robot optimizes the route and clean every tiny places it should. Still figuring out if it have the house mapping function, but apart of that, I super recommend!

I was a bit skeptical which is why it took years for me to consider buying a robot vacuum. I am a slave to my vacuum as I have to dogs that shed constantly so vacuuming every single day is just part of my routine. But after many hours of reviewing and researching, I gave iRobot a try and I am thankful I did! It has been a full week I had it and it works great. For a non dyson (strongest suction vacuum) it has decent suction for hard wood floors and even area rugs. Works slowly and when it does bump furniture, it is very gentle. Noise is a minimum compared to a "true" vacuum. My one golden retriever is DEATHLY afraid of it and runs to go outside the minute I turn it on. Pros: Picks up all pet hair on hard wood and most in the area rugs Decent suction for a robot vacuum Quieter than a traditional vacuum Goes "home" when press home button as long as vacuum wasn't picked up and placed down as that disorients it Easy to clean all parts Ease of set up with iPhone Cons: As all reviews say. This is smaller type of vacuum so expect (based on square footage of area) to have to empty dust bin depending on square footage of house and how dirty floors are. Vacuum will alert you when dustbin full. Cycle of vacuum sometimes is off. It may go back and forth in a given area over and over despite being a large expanse of floor in front of it. Sometimes gets frustrating and you need to pick it up and place it in other parts of the floor it has not gotten to. However, I have learned to just put it on for an hour or so and let it go where it needs to go. If left on its own for the time, it will navigate all over floor, under couches, under chairs I know the more expensive line has dust bin emptying and "mapping" of floor plan so it covers the entire floor but I did not buy this to replace my dyson animal cinematic traditional vacuum. I bought this to keep the pet hair under control so I can take 1 day off of vacuuming every other day and let the robot pick up the pet hair. All in all, REALLY impressed with this robot vacuum especially for dog hair. It picks up ALL the hair and allows me a day off of traditional vacuuming. It is quiet. It gets the job done so it frees me up. HIGHLY recommend!!!

7 months ago, I purchased my first Robot Vacuum. I have kids and dogs and this unit is a marriage saver. However it is not self-cleaning. At the time, the Roomba self-cleaning Vacuums were more expense that some other units. I purchased a Shark and what a poor decision that was. The Roomba removes hair and dirt from both the floors and the carpet. The other unit leaves the floor gritty and the Roomba leave a smooth clean floor. also the Shark does not even clean hair off the carpet. I use the Roomba 6 hours a day. The Roomba will only return to the base to be charged once and it charges in about and hour. The other unit runs out of juice in an hour and takes 2 hours to charge, The Roomba will pick up other small debris but the other unit will shut down. The Roomba is tough. with the exception of loose cords, it will work itself out if many issues and not get stuck. The other unit I have to look for on a regular basis. I would highly recommend the Roomba and if it costs a little more, the system is worth it! because it will clean your house. My spouse just threw the Shark in the trash and I just purchased a new Roomba.
