Excellent umbrella and service

Great umbrella and customer service. I’m amazed that some get upset when a stand isn’t included when the listing clearly states “ stand NOT INCLUDED.” I guess some people just look at pictures and can’t be bothered with text. In any case, bought the stand (and a machine tool dolly to allow moving it), filled it with 100 lbs of sand and have had no issues with wind. I have another 100 lbs but haven’t need it it as it’s very stable. Customer service is first rate. One of the spring tips came loose due to shipping but I wrote them and they sent not 1, but 2 within days. Couldn’t ask for more.

Wonderful Shade Umbrella

We purchased this umbrella in over 2 years ago. We close it up if we are not going to be using it for a few days, but when I'm using it on a regular basis then I keep it open. We keep it covered with the protective cover that it came with when we do close it and it has held up beautifully. If the day is really windy I make sure it is closed since we live where we get some very strong Santa Ana winds. The fabric has not faded and we've had no trouble with the ribs breaking, it came with the legs for the bottom and we have secured them with large pavers (stacked 2 high) that fit between the legs of the base (8 total pavers). This umbrella is great and has provided lots of shade for our patio. We could not enjoy our outdoor living space without it!

Love this umbrella

We purchased the 12ft Square umbrella in Grey. Assembly was easy, including the In-Ground Base which I installed at the edge of our patio. It covers a huge and and provides decent sun protection although in the recent 122F heat the dark color did radiate a lot of heat down towards us. Lots of options to get the umbrella positioned perfectly as the sun moves overhead during the day. Slightly concerned about the way the umbrella moves around when the wind starts to blow. Construction seems to be designed for light weight rather than sturdiness. I guess time will tell but so far we love this umbrella.

Sturdy, well-thought out umbrella.

I am really pleased with this umbrella. It is well-made, sturdy and easy enough for one person to open and close. The base seems to hold the unit in place on windy days, and I like that it is filled with water that can be emptied for the winter. The handles and controls for adjusting the height, tilt, and position, are substantial and a breeze to operate. The top wind canopy has separate spokes, so when the wind blows, it inflates and provides additional steadiness. My favorite feature, not always included with other umbrellas, is the cover that comes with it. This 11-foot umbrella is tall, and the design is genius with a pole that you used to raise the cover to the top of the umbrella. It then simply drapes over the umbrella and you zip and tie at the bottom. Again, this is a one-person job. Purple Leaf may be pricey, but it is worth the investment if you don’t want to wrangle with your umbrella every time you open and close.

So far so good

I’ve only had the 11x11 umbrella (with 36x36 inch stand filled with water) up for a week but am impressed with the quality of construction. It’s very well put together and the stand is also excellent — easy to fill with water and heavy as a tank when fill. I don’t understand why most people would waste their time filling it with sand? The drain holes are well positioned toward the bottom and it will be easy to empty and put away for the Winter. Note: the umbrella is rather heavy …..and having 2 people put it up is a plus.

Great so far

I bought the 11-foot square version. I installed it with the permanent steel-in-concrete base in my pool deck. So far, the umbrella seems like a quality item. I wouldn't leave it open in strong wind, but I'll be watching carefully so see how much wind it can take. A restaurant near me has about ten of the same exact Purple Leaf umbrellas over outdoor tables. They're using the plastic bases which seem to work. I don't know what the restaurant staff would have to say.

Don’t need to buy the expensive base

I did not want to spend $150 on the base, so I bought eight 16 inch square pavers and placed them two deep into each corner of the cross shaped frame...which holds it down well. Each paver weighs 37 lbs which is over 300 lbs. Then I used bricks to sit on top of the exposed frame ...flower pots on top of pavers...looks much more beautiful than big black plastic thing!! My iPad will not take a photo at this time( such a fickle friend ) . I got the 10 ft square size use I think you loose some shade with the round shape. I am very happy so far. We will see how it ages. BTW I spent $40 on the pavers...a bargain!

Amazing Customer Service

We ordered a 10x10 cantilevered umbrella with the 34"x34" base. It arrived promptly and was easy to assemble. The umbrella is very well constructed and easy to operate. After some time, we discovered the base had a small leak. We contacted Purple Leaf being leery that we'd get a response. They exceeded our expectations. The communication was so impressive. Response times were always within 24 hours. They resolved our issue expediently and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our product!

Easy to put up and down

Got this umbrella for the deck to cover a new seating area. It’s expensive, but I wanted to make sure it stayed up, given the winds we’ve been having lately. We love the umbrella: very attractive, easy to put up and down, and has a vent at the peak that allows the heat to escape. The only drawback is the enormous base that you buy to go with it. If you want sturdiness, you need a big heavy base that takes up a lot of our deck space, about 3 feet square.

Very good product but things to know about the umbrella base

The product is very good and offers good value for money. One item that was a bit confusing was that the base shown in the photos does not come with the unit and has to be purchased separately. What was not clear is that the umbrella does come with a base but that required the square cement weights to go on top of it (that do not come with the box). My old umbrella had a similar base so I was able to use the old cement weights with the new base, so the base sold separately was not needed.
