I had an issue with 2022 version and not sure if it still existed in 2023 version. In any case it cost me $10000 because I did not realize I was not withholding enough for taxes. The problem occurred in entering deductions. I entered an amount of earnings of $8000 dollars and I fat fingered taxes withheld as $10000 instead of $1000. The program did not catch the fact that I entered more taxes withheld than income coming in. I have been a software engineer for 38 years and this kind of simple error checking missing from product is inexcusable. I would recommend this product with the caveat to make sure you enter all data correctly since the program might not catch this mistake.

The software is a great time saver at a low cost. Easy to use. Have used it for several years. Local tax form though not part of the flow. Need to search for. Also first time having to pay IRS through efile. Instructions were not clear to me. Hence I ended up having to pay a penalty. If the software asks for credit card info I expected the process was automatic. It's not. Didn't see the fine print.

Have been using H&R software for 20 plus years. Never a problem until this year. The problem had to do with e-filing with the University of Buffalo and the Federal ID code. Spent over 50 minutes with 2 people trying to solve the problem and was finally told that I could not e-file and had to do it by paper mail. Would like to know when this issue has been fixed.

I have been using H&R Block tax software for years. It have been very user friendly for years through Family, S-Corp, and Sole Proprietorship businesses. The software helps remind us for all of the income and deductions that are appropriate. This helps in minimizing the tax due each year.

All went well until time to file. Chose electronic filing for both federal and state. Due to a technical issue my electronic filing was rejected. Since federal was rejected it gave no option for filing state form electronically. Can I get a refund for the fee paid for state?

Who needs a CPA to do a basic tax return . This covers all the basic stuff especially if you are using new larger standard deduction . Investment returns load easily.. best if you have one provider like Schwab It's annoying to have to pay a fee to file Massachusetts return on line however

I was employed at Block for 45 years as a Senior Tax Analyst and an Instructor. My own tax return now is somewhat difficult for all but the "seasoned" tax preparers. That being said, I didn't have a problem with the more complicated forms, but I do think a more explicit, line by line instructions for some forms would be an asset to the program. It would be nice if the filing of the state returns was part of the original purchase price.

Ben using Block since switching from TurboTax about15 years ago due to a network SNAFU at the filing deadline, and zero support from Intuit. Block has a good product overall, with good in-application pointers. In the years I've used it there have bern a couple of software glitches, always resolved by Block's excellent tech support. I have a moderately complex return snd use the Deluxe version.

I've used H&R Block software for several years and have found it dependable. That is, its reminders, recommendations, and calculations have worked in the end.. But, to get there, one must labor through unimaginative, dense, terse, and unfriendly verbiage. The "H&R Block Deluxe" software is desperately in need of a remake at every level.

This was the third consecutive year that I've uses HR Block software. I think the interview process has improved from year to year. Of course, I could be getting more familiar with program as well. I have some mineral royalties and foreign sourced investment dividends the the program handles but requires me to check out the IRS website.
