The features and program itself were great. The one thing I did not like was that I had to wait to complete and submit my tax return until after certain updates were finished with the program. I like doing my taxes in February to get them done, but had to wait until March for the updates to be done before I could actually submit my taxes.

I have found the H& R Block Deluxe & State TAX software product generally most effective easy to use product for the Individual taxpayer. The price has been reasonable although it has gone up the last 3 years. I only in recent years have started electronic filing and feel they should have the government cover at least 6 free filings as that is what I have had in my household. Not to mention it would be nice if the State function could allow the same equal amount of free electronic filings too. Over the many years of use I have, I found at least 4 medium to major glitches not in the Tax Accuracy but in program software related functionality affecting timing and delays.

I purchased this in January and installed it in early March to do my taxes. My only disappointment and the reason for the 4 star rating instead of 5 stars was that the program did not yet have the update to allow me to do my own calculation for Underpaid Taxes.

The program was straight forward and was easy to input the data into. There were a few spots where it was hard to tell what the next step was or anything else was required. Aside from that, it made filing taxes relatively easy and I will be using it again.

This is the first year that I had any trouble with this software. Federal when through just fine but, now I am hearing from the State of Ohio Taxation the math was not correct and that I owed $386 on Social Security and my un-reimbursable medical expenses. Is there someone to talk to about this issue?

You need to develop an H&R Block implementation for Linux. I am dropping Windows 10 when Microsoft support expires in 2025 and switching exclusively to Linux, most likely Ubuntu Linux or Pop!_OS Linux. I will not transition ever to the Apple Corp.'s Mac laptops and PCs.

The program was very good. The Delux edition included 5 federal returns , a little overkill as most people just use 1, and 1 state return. I did the fed return and filed it, all went well. The Deluxe version gives you 1 free state return.I did the state computations , went fine, I w Went to file state return, nope had to pay an additional $19.95,. What the heck, didn't see that cost coming.

I've been using them for over 10 years. Started out with ZERO idea about what I was doing (the ex used to prefer doing all of it themself), and H&R Block's software just gently guides you through everything, including whether or not you should itemize, and allows you to e-file with no stress at all.

One complaint. Maybe it's me, but after multiple years of similar experience I believe you need a better “stop the program and close the window”. Save or not and close the program. Seems to be a minor detail but with my Apple PC this does not seem simple.

While the survey method (answering questions that may or may not lead to additional question) of input has benefits, it is extremely awkward for making corrections or understanding what went into some of the numbers on the return. A reverse lookup feature (highlight the number on the return and source(s) of input can be identified or just highlight a line on return and where that info should be entered) can be very valuable and should be available.
