Watch the disc

I bought this to use on myself and, yes, it takes a lot of acrobatic skills, especially since I'm not exactly the thinnest of women. And yes, the first time was horrendously painful but I just did it a second time two days ago and it was way less awful. Enough about me, let's focus on the product. It comes with everything you need except for something to sit on while you do your business(I used an old t shirt; puppy pads or old towels or others would work just fine). Do not forget to apply the pre-epilation oil. I forgot it when I did my legs yesterday and it was a painful lesson (get it?). The pre-epilation also works well as a wax remover. When I run out, I plan on just using baby oil, but it comes with this kit so why not use it? I start by turning on the wax warmer (Don't forget the clear plastic lid on the wax can) and leaving it for about 30-45 minute on high, covered by the orange dome. Then, I clean the area and apply the oil all over. About half a tablespoon is more than enough for my entire area. Watch the disc and follow the general instructions: apply generous amount of wax WITH the direction of hair growth, wait for it to barely dry, flick upward against the base of the wax(toward the tip of the hair), pull parallel (not perpendicular) against hair growth while holding skin as taunt as possible. "Generous amount" is vague, I know. I find that when it's honey color when it's dried, that's a thick enough layer. A thin layer will not pull off in one piece and you'd have to peel tiny bits off at a time, which is both time consuming and more painful. Repeat until you can't take it anymore or until smooth. Do NOT go over the same area over and over again. I find that my skin can handle me going over an area twice if I do a few other strips somewhere else first, but ymmv. Some sites say you can do an area twice, some says just don't do it three times. Lastly, after I've done all the waxing I wanted to do, I apply the post wax cooling gel. It's a nice reward after the abuse you've inflicted upon yourself. I suggest watching some youtube videos. There's at least 1 video that features a woman waxing herself on there and I think I'll try to place my wax patches more like hers next time. *note: your happy bits are the most painful bits. Use smaller strips than you think you need. You can always scale up. You can also always scale down, but is the pain worth it to start large and have to scale down?

Bought this 2 to 3 years ago

I bought this wax kit for about two to three years ago. I originally bought it for down yonder but I tried it twice and I would rather have someone do that region for me because I was in tears and shaking after that. It's too nerve-wracking to do it yourself especially when you know there is going to be a lot of pain. To this day, I still use this waxing kit mostly for my lip and brows but every now and then I will use it for my armpits. It has never steered me wrong and every time I do it I just get better at it. For that bad reviews on here, ya'lls are crazy. This kit is amazing when it comes like it's supposed to and if you use it like you're supposed to. If you put too thin of wax on your body, of course, it won't work!!! If you put the wax on high and then use it, of course, it will make a huge mess and burn you. What I do is heat my wax on high, wait for it to melt, turn it to medium and wait for it to thicken a while, test a small portion on my wrist for temperature, and then use it. If you use it like you're supposed to 5 stars, if you don't, then maybe figure out how your actually supposed to use wax.

Works great on armpit hair.

I recommend buying this Gigi Brazillian Waxing Kit. I have been paying $20 to have my armpits waxed every month for years now. I finally ordered my own kit to save money. It works great. It takes about 1-2 hours to melt the wax once you turn it on. I use the large angle stick and start with the center first. Make sure you do small strips at a time and wipe the wax on in the direction the hair grows, then pull off in the opposite direction. No material needed. Just flick the end of the wax with your finger to get a small grip then pull skin tight as you pull the wax off. Also, make sure you use the pre-epilation oil before applying the wax. I forgot once and it's much more painful without the oil. Using the oil makes the wax only pull on the hair and not the skin. I definitly recommend having your armpits professionally waxed a few times before you try this at home. It's painful at first but eventually it doesn't hurt at all. I'm adding pictures so you can see that it gets almost every hair. I usually have about 5-10 hairs that I have to pluck out after I'm done. But the more I'm using this, the better I get.

Going Strong Seven Years Later!

I had been getting waxed for a year and a half until one day, I went to the salon and the lady took 10 minutes to give me a full Brazilian. I paid her $60 after tip and decided to purchase this kit and wax on my own to save money. After being waxed 15+ times by an aesthetician, I felt that I could give it a try and I have not regretted the purchase! I try to use the wax collars because, a few times, the jar cooled and small bits of wax got into the bottom of the warmer and made it stick. I also take the wax out of the warmer (by slowly picking it up by the collar) while waxing so that it does not get too hot, especially once you get to the bottom of the wax. Make sure the hard wax is like a gloopy, slow-moving magma before putting it on your skin. For bikini waxing only, the jar lasts me about a year and a half if I wax every month. I don't use any product except baby powder prior to waxing, but when I first started, I needed the "Wax Off" wax remover because I was terrible and didn't realize how thick the wax needed to be. I actually only used about and third of the bottle and still have it. I still have the trial bottles sent in the kit, I don't really feel the need to use any of it!

Works great! I LOVE this kit

I really wanted to give my opinion about this waxing unit because it's gotten some harsh reviews. First of all, WAX IS STICKY! I think anyone who has not waxed before, should try a professional first to get an idea of how to use it. Melted wax is extremely sticky, which is why it takes your hair off MAKE SURE TO HAVE BABY OIL ON HAND FOR ANY WAX REMOVAL. Here are the steps I do to make it easy for me to wax: 1: I pre-cut my muslin strips ahead of time and have them ready to use. 2: I have baby powder out to apply on the area before I apply the wax. 3: Before I even turn the unit on, I put a piece of paper under the heater that is large enough to cover any drips that may happen. I put the collar around the top of the wax can and then put it in the unit and heat it for about a half an hour before I use it. I also put another piece of paper between me and the unit to catch any drips so I don't get any wax on my counter. I also put my used stick there after each use. It makes clean up SO easy- just throw away the paper and you're all done. DO NOT RE-DIP THE STICK AFTER EACH USE. This is for hygiene and keeps your wax clean. 4: I make sure to use the pre-wax cleaner first, (so the skin is clean of any oils and bacteria) and then I use a small amount of baby powder over the area to be waxed. 5: I put on gloves before I wax. It really makes a difference. I tried to do it without, and somehow always get some wax on me. I stir the wax, dip my stick in and use a small amount and wave it for just a second and apply the wax in the direction of hair growth. For my upper lip, I start in the middle of the lip and apply toward the edge of my lip. Apply the muslin strip and I let it stay there for almost 45 seconds. I have found if I try to remove my strip too soon, the wax doesn't come off. Pull toward the middle of the lip (opposite direction of wax application) Make sure to pull quickly and you can hold the edge of your skin before you pull. Then I do the other side. I use baby oil to remove any left over wax and then put all my sticks, cotton pads, and gloves on the piece of paper and then throw away. VERY EASY I was told that cortisone cream may help after the first time of waxing as it can help reduce the redness. I also save the lid to my wax (put somewhere where nothing can touch it-it's really sticky) so that if I want to change waxes I can. Hope this helps some of you who are new to waxing. Make sure to not spill the wax or you will have trouble cleaning it off of surfaces. I LOVE this kit, and it's not fair to fault the wax, when it's usually the user that is having problems. Just be prepared, and you'll love this as much as I do.

My favorite way of waxing!

Very convenient and cheapest option for at home waxing! I used to get the wax that goes into the microwave, but you have to keep warming it up which is very inconvenient and not environment friendly. Having it done by professionals can be costly (+ you have to be comfortable being naked front of a stranger). This waxing kit has changed my life when it come to removing body hair! It keeps the wax warm during the whole application and it comes with wooden spatulas, and even a DVD. It can be messy for beginners but practice makes perfect, and this kit is worth a few trials! ;-) I highly recommend this kit if you want to get rid of you hair in the privacy of your house, at so little cost! I purchased it about a year ago and nothing has broke, and refill lasts a while!

You can do it!

Long ago, I used to use the GiGi Brazilian bikini wax microwave kit from Sally beauty supply, and that was easy and worked well. I haven't owned a microwave in years, but decided I wanted to have a go at trying to do my own Brazilian waxing because it's way too expensive to pay a salon. I used to wax myself 10 years ago, and then I got laser hair removal which worked for some time, but even after laser hair removal, some hair always comes back on the "undercarriage"..... I had just been shaving it, but I decided recently that I would try waxing again after a 10-year hiatus from waxing. I will say that watching a video on hard wax to see the techniques was very helpful. I just googled "how to use Gigi hard wax" and I found several helpful videos, including one where a girl was waxing her armpits and showing you the correct techniques for hard wax. The keys are to create a lip or ear of wax at the end of your swipe, on a smooth area of skin away from the hair, so that you have a lip to pull up for a good handle on the wax when you rip it with one quick rip. Pulling the skin taut and ripping parallel to the skin works well. Waiting only about 10 seconds for the wax to solidify is key, making sure not to wait too long or it will come off in flakes, which is painful... I remember using these techniques in the past and how successful they were. This kit came nicely packaged with very clear instructions taped to the top of the wax pot. If you open that small little circular instruction booklet, it has many great tips. It says to turn the warmer up to high in order to warm hard wax at first. I left it on high for 2 hours to completely liquefy everything. Then I turned it down to low and left it there for about an hour. That's when I finally got up the nerve to try this again. The wax was a perfect temperature with 2 hours on high and then 1 hour on low. I used the large popsicle stick for all of my waxing, and I must say that the pre-epilation oil is incredibly important. Just put a small bit on your hand and rub it all over the areas that you plan to wax, but don't use a ton. A little goes a long way. This enables the skin to stay supple while the hair is grabbed by the wax. This is great for sensitive skin. I do not recommend the after wax cooling gel, as it just stings and burns my sensitive skin. It has some sort of minty IcyHot stuff in it. Does NOT feel good on the undercarriage... You can use any moisturizer after waxing. I used tallow balm after whiping off the cooling gel. Remembering the techniques listed above was helpful, but I definitely wasn't perfect on my first try in the last 10 years. My skills were rusty and I ended up having to re-wax a couple of spots that didn't take. Those spots did bleed a little and felt slightly bruised the next day. I know that if I keep up with this, my technique will get better each time and I won't have any issues like bruising or minor bleeding. Overall, totally worth it and way better than paying a professional a ton of money. This really works. It does get all of the hair if you use the right techniques.

Best At home waxing Kit!

Every time I break this out everyone lines up. There is products in here for all skin types. It was packaged nicely and after using it it can all go back into the box nicely. It comes with literally everything you need and some nice creams. I love the pink wax because it feels less harsh on anyones skin. It heats uo fairly quickly and the container is not hot to the touch. This is the second time purchasing this item!

Highly recommend if you’re brave enough

During this time where I can’t go and have someone wax me, I got very desperate to get hair removed from my lady parts. I did lots of reading and this was highly recommended. So I got it and it arrived, it’s very professional, takes maybe 20-30minutes for the wax to heat up and melt. Now every-time I’ve gotten waxed they actually didn’t apply hard wax. Maybe I didn’t need it so I wasn’t completely sure how to do it but after lots of research I did it. Everything about this kit is A+ absolutely nothing wrong with it. The rest is more user error from waxing yourself (if you plan on using this on yourself). I recommend locking yourself in the bathroom and shooing away any family as something about waxing yourself is a bit more painful than having someone else just do it. I personally like to lay on the floor or sit in a chair but to each their own. Follow the instructions. I recommend when you first pull out wax from the heater, swirl it about to let it cool off so it’s a little thicker so it doesn’t drip everywhere. Make sure to make a little lip to grab onto for when you pull it off. I’ve used this four times now. I’m still learning but overall it gets the job done nice and cleanly. Also don’t add too much of the pre wax oil stuff that protects your skin. I made the mistake of adding too much and I had to go over areas three times because the wax would not grab onto the hair.
