Well, fiddled with one for 10 minutes to find out it was DOA. The other one connected to homekit within 5 minutes and is working great. Was on hold with TP link for 20mins then they hung up, customer support is bad..

Tengo menos de un mes de tenerlos en uso y ya se me han dañado 3. Había comprado varios porque me los habían recomendado pero terrible decisión. No lo recomiendo.Son muy utiles pero no tienen durabilidad.

Thread couldn’t be more obviously lacking

Tapo was one of the first on the market with these Matter supporting smart plugs, but it’s obvious steps were skipped to be first, as these don’t support Thread. How does that affect you? If you opt for the poor setup method, it doesn’t. Setting these up is easy through their Tapo app, but no one wants an entire separate app just to click some smart plugs off and on. Matter is what most are after if purchasing this. Unfortunately setting these up with Matter is a nightmare. The plugs’ components are cheap in that there is zero support for 5GHz WiFi. You will be greeted with a constant “failed to connect” message when trying to pair by scanning the QR code if your phone decides to connect to 5 over 2.4.Their support tells you to simply separate your WiFi bands to get around this, but guess what? That practice is becoming increasingly antiquated, with many routers not even allowing you to separate the bands anymore.Thread would have solved all these issues, safe to say Matter alone wont be enough to sell me on a future smart device — MATTER + THREAD or I’m not buying.

Didn’t last 9 months. We’ve had others for years.

They have randomly lost connectivity after like 8 months. Will not be repurchasing. We have Kasa ones that have lasted years.

Great until they aren’t

I loved this product initially. They worked for about a month before suddenly all disconnecting. I haven’t been able to reset them and get them added back like some other reviewers. So I effectively have 2 packs of these that are paper weights. Will update if I end up getting to work again.

I don't recommend this product

We already use several smart plugs but needed a high capacity one. Unfortunately Tapo app constantly had offline issues. To troubleshoot if it was my wifi i bought BN-Link high capacity plug to compare and I've had no problems whatsoever with the BN-Lnk smart app going offline and it handles the high demand perfectly

Believe the negative reviews

Unless you have a wide open, unfiltered home network you will probably run into issues with this plug even using their own FIRST PARTY app. I suspect this smart plug does a lot of cloud communication even for things that should not need it (like adding to HomeKit). This plug is well reviewed here and by YouTube “influencers” —that should be your first clue to be wary.Setting up with the app they seem to work but upgrades fail repeatedly and the switches are slow to react even using their own app. Then, they will go offline in their own app. It’s impossible to use the matter code to add these to HomeKit after adding to their app. You have to reset the plug and add to HomeKit first. Even then it goes offline in HomeKit daily. Again I suspect this is due to my routine network filtering/security. If I turn off all network security I’m sure these would work great.I’m going to chuck these and try the EVE plugs which advertises pure local usage.
