Got this for my American Bulldog and Beagle. On day 1 my 4 month old beagle knew the perimeter and stayed within boundary. For the Beagle it works great. However, my American Bulldog is scared to death of it he won't go off the porch because he knows that it's the safe boundary, we have worked with him and he's doing better. This product does work and Daisy (beagle) and Butters (bulldog) can roam even when we are not outside and we can have piece of mind. The wifi does sometimes change the perimeter but it's usually correct within a few feet.

We've used this system for our 7 month old beagle for about 3 months now. She learned her boundaries pretty fast, beeps to warn her when she's getting close to the edge. The battery life on the collar is pretty good we charge it about once a month.

This is easy to set up and use. Within two weeks our dog knew her boundaries. My only complaint is that they don’t make a smaller collar and sensor for small dogs. Our dog only weighs 9 pounds. The giant hard to snap and unsnap buckle make this hard to get on and off. It also weighs her down. The buckle makes such a loud click it scares her. Please make a smaller version and a buckle that is easy to get on and off. Overall, I’d recommend bc it does what it’s supposed to.

We have just purchased the PetSafe Compact wireless system, and we have three dogs. Therefore, we needed two additional collars. This particular add-on collar was a "second-chance" amazon collarIt arrived with original packaging, but it did not have the larger/longer prongs.Luckily I had ab extra set from one of the other collars we purchased.

First off I really hate having to resort to these collars, however they are way cheaper than a fence and great if you are renting. It did not take long for my dogs to know their perimeter. I also like that is has different levels. Well worth the money!

Love not having to hook the dogs out

I have 3 Belgian Malinois, a Black Lab, and a new yard without a fence. I did a lot of research and ordered the Stay and Play and then ordered 3 extra collars. The unit is pretty compact and neat looking and is about the size and shape of a blender without the pitcher on it. I plugged in the unit and was pleasantly surprised to see that all of the collars worked with the unit without doing anything to them at all. I thought I would have to sync them like you would garage door opener. Our house is 3400sq feet (2 stories). We placed the unit about 4 ft. off the ground near a window that opens to the back yard. The unit throws out a signal that allows the dogs to roam a petty large perimeter all the way around the house. We could have allowed the dogs to roam farther in the back yard, but the signal would go too far in the front yard which would give the dogs access to the street. Too bad you can't send the signal out in the shape of a baseball diamond, instead of in a circle. I watched the youtube videos on how to set up the unit and how to train the dogs to learn the boundaries. I had trouble at first in flagging the border because it appeared that the signal was inconsistent. I called customer service and they walked me through setting it up. (apparently I needed to adjust the signal with the collar near the unit and THEN walk out to see where the correction boundary was. No problems since. Two of my dogs barely needed any training and figured it out quickly. One dog hung out under a patio table for a couple of days after being electronically corrected until he figured it out. The Lab (a duck dog who is accustomed to wearing an electric collar) was the most confused. For her an electric signal has meant for her to sit and look at me for her next move. One week after the setup, the dogs have figured it out and are free of their kennels! No more walking them 4x a day. Love it! The waterproof collars are a nice touch. I find them to be difficult to adjust to a smaller size. Plus they seem to loosen a bit by the end of the day. The charger is capable of charging two collars at a time. Collars are have no need of battery replacement. For us, this product seems to be worth the steep price. A fence would cost us much more and would limit our view of the outdoors. Thought I would write a little review. Hope it is helpful to somone. I have a next door neighbor that uses the older model and we have no problem with our signals interfering with one another.

So far so good with this product it took me at least 3 days to find the correct boundaries as it seemed to change each day. I unplugged the unit turned it on and off and I think that helped but I think I'm going to have to replace the flags at some point. So far it has only taken my bullmastiff four days to understand and learn his boundaries. I have had to turn the shock to number three because he wasn't respecting it at all at one or two within 3 days he's actually off the leash and doing quite well he's very smart and understands quick. Three weeks prior I purchased a scat mat to keep in contained in my kitchen and family room which has a little electric shock If he steps on it..it took him one time to respect that so I think that mat has helped with my outside wireless training. One thing that I didn't anticipate is the visual flags that are very flimsy don't go into frozen ground I had to use a screwdriver to make a hole to get the flags in the ground and they're still not in there very good, when I called The service number to ask a couple questions she explained that I can use anything for the visual however paying $300 for the unit I would expect better flags ....white doesn't really work when you're in the north east and you have snow and you're trying to train your dog at the same time it's hard....if I look outside right now the flags are not there ,they are covered in snow and the ones near the driveway and plowed in. So far he ran through the boundary probably twice and he kinda of stopped and ran back to safety area which I was happy about. I also live on a farm and at this point he runs out to a certain point and realizes he can't go any further as my horses and goats are staring at him from the other side of the fence which is pretty funny this is all within 5 days. I do believe that if he was running full force as he's a pretty big bully he would probably run right through the boundary so I am going to take a little bit of time so he understands what really will happen ( I know I have no patience to go thru the proper 2 weeks..that's my fault) I may have to increase the shock and then hopefully be able to bring it down to just a tone one day. We do have a large home so the circle circumference goes mostly my backyard and then towards a little part of my front area but the problem that I have is that some of that goes to the driveway and then into the very front of my house into the mulch which is kind of a pain so I'm hoping that he'll understand the boundaries there cause I think it will be very confusing for him if you get . It was easy to call the service number and get my questions answered the lady was very helpful. So far I'm pretty happy..I'll update in a couple weeks. It's not a crappy unit but it's wireless so some people have to understand wireless isn't perfect, but there was no way I was going to convience my husband to installed wired so this would be the next best thing..and hopefully in time I won't worry where my dog is wandering and he can enjoy the outdoor more without us constantly calling him back because were afraid he's running away.

I bought the PIF-300 in March of 2010. Recently, 2 of the 4 collars on that unit just stopped working. After checking this newest version out, I decided to spend the money and get lighter weight, water resistant and rechargeable collars. Setup was a breeze - considering all 4 of my dogs already knew their boundaries on the old model and this model provides a little further coverage. I just plugged it in, set it in the same central location, charged the batteries, set the shock level, and away we went.Compared to the previous version, this is definitely an improvement as far as the collars go. The units sit INSIDE the collar, much neater and more secure fit. The older unit sat outside the collar and was bulky and fell off. The shock prongs are firmly fastened to the base unit on the collar. The older model prongs were constantly coming loose and washers falling out. The base unit is 1/4 the size of the older model so it takes up much less space. The black collars and units are more sleek looking than the older version with the red collars.First complaint...These collars have NO clip for your dog tag. It's pretty important to me that my dogs are wearing their tags at all times, in case they escape. They are all micro-chipped, but on a weekend or evening, that does no good. I want a clearly visible tag for anyone that might find them. I had to jam it into the plastic clip section for now.Second complaint....The base unit makes a fairly noisy winding sound and gets pretty hot to the touch. The older model was very quiet and didn't get hot at all. Because these new collars will work with the older unit, I'm holding onto the old base "just in case".Third complaint....Apparently this model has an alarm that will sound when the power goes off. It will continue sounding for 30 minutes. This feature should be an OPTION. If the power should go off while I'm at work, and my dogs are inside (as they always are), this alarm will sound and annoy them for that time period. I don't find this feature necessary since I'm pretty sure I'll know that the power is out without the alarm sounding. All in all, this model is an improvement over the previous version. I will say that I hope this unit and collars give me more than 2½ years life compared to the older model.10.8.12 UPDATE. So, after one week of use, all 4 collar batteries died. Considering they were used perhaps 7 hours total, not impressive. I got more life out of the older model collar. Furthermore, all 4 batteries went from green (assume lowest % at 60%) to red (assume highest % at 20%) with NO yellow indication and within 10 minutes of seeing a flashing green light AND some while sitting overnight (when not in use at all). How batteries drained themselves that much, that fast or when not in use, is beyond me. Then they were put on the charger and fully charged within 20 minutes (when the manual states it takes 2-3 hours to achieve full charge)? Either the light indicators are malfunctioning (since no yellow light) or these collars themselves are not functioning properly. When you have 4 dogs that need this system to function to contain them, and the collars go from green to red in mere minutes, you are left with dogs that can escape because the collar isn't working and you received no notification of it. The warning system of yellow flashing lights isn't working on any of my collars.

Where you located it in your house affects very much how much yard your dog will have on all sides of your property. I didn’t need the flags as long but it helped us a lot. He still tries to test it out but it’s only been a week and he loves having more freedom and I love knowing I can let me go without a leash and he is safe. Very good product.
